I almost skipped this because I'm not into sports, but I'm glad I watched. These two are hilarious. Could've listened to their enthusiastic stories for an hour.

I'm kinda shocked that nobody mentioned that Ryan Dempster has been doing standup comedy for years now.

LOL immediately went to Baseball Reference and found it! Matt Stairs went 2 for 4, both hits were HR's and BOTH were off Dempster. The conversation must have been later on though since Stairs didn't make it to 1B again during that game and both teams started new series the next day. Still a great story. 💯

The Cubs' Marquee Network has an annoying policy of rotating or adding analysts during the season, and most of them are terrible in contrast with the regular guy, Jim DeShaies. But Demp is always a treat when he fills in.

Dempster will always be a Cubbie, even with that silly ring he has from the East coast. He is amazingly fun at the Cubs convention each year, and he really needs to have his own late night show. His stand-up game is strong!

So Karl comes into Per Se in a pale blue silk Yves St Laurent suit and with his hair in a 1940’s quiff and sits down and orders a glass of Krystal and says, “Bonjour mes bien buddy. J’ai regardé une classy émission de télévision series entitled ‘The Old Look’ et tu should regardez it too. It stars Ben Mendel’s son as Christian Dior, and Johan Malcovichy-French as Chris Collinsworth-Bastarde, and covers the occupation of Paris by the Germans in WW2 and the fashion houses that made their FGCL jerseys. The Nazis played a German form of NFL during the war that used a large croissant instead of a football, hence the title ‘French German Croissant League’. Johan plays the lead jersey couturier and Ben plays the Special Teams coach and terrible towel designer. These towels in the colours of the croissant were waved at games when the croissant was thrown across the line, in celebration. After the war Ben’s character was employed to design these towels for a FGCL team in Pittsburgh USA, and they became known as the ‘Schitty Bee Towels’. This is a scene from the movie where Johan and Ben are discussing the new FGCL towel design: J: My…dear…Chris-t-yarn…zee…towel…merst be……..designed……….(phuckin long pause between pretentious stammering in excruciating monotone ) …..to show….and….demonstrate….ze finest………..towel design…..our house……….can……..design. B: Mon ami Johan…though I’m so massively shy and self-deprecating to the point of being mentally disabled, je suis forced to point out that that is tres obvious vous est dickwit. We’re high fashion couturier jersey and towel designers! And why are you parlez-ing in such a stilted tres weird way for foutres sake? “Bro…it goes on and on like this for hours until both characters die of boredom and from ingesting too many croissants during the designing process. You’ve gotta see it to believe it mon amis buddy pal!” (sacred bleu….)
