Correction: We don’t necessarily hate when the audience cheers, we hate when they’re told to overly cheer and when they drown you out (like in the old days of the show and which can still be found in other current late night shows…). It seems though, that since Seth’s audience has been back, either they aren’t being told to make as much noise as they can anymore and they’re on their best behavior, or the audio team is keeping the audience volume levels low for us at home, which I’m immensely thankful for! Seth is also doing a fantastic job of not pandering to the audience the way other late night hosts do. The audience is there, but Seth is almost continuing on as if they’re not, and he refers to them only if he needs to or if the joke calls for it. Even physically, I noticed he’s putting his hands up if he needs to stop laughter when it goes on too long. Seth’s navigating the return of the audience really well, and I just want to let him know that I NOTICE!

Here's my tip for anyone that never knows whether to use "I" or "me". Simply take the other person(s) out of the sentence and say it again and see if it sounds weird. For example: "[My wife and] me went out last night". How dumb does "me went out last night" sound? In that case it's clearly "and I". In a related sentence when asked who was out last night, saying "Just my wife and I" when removing the other person would be "Just I" - clearly that sounds weird, it'd be "my wife and me" or "me and my wife". You never need to know how it works, or find a rule, just remove the other person from the sentence and see if it sounds weird without them when referring to yourself as me or I.

Love the “Jackal Power” hat, and I have to admit that I was a bit wary of the live audience returning, because the humor and jokes had flowed so easily, naturally and spontaneously during those audience-free shows and all of that cheering and excessive applause would ruin the pacing and timing of the jokes. But I’m pleasantly surprised that the same crazy humor which made the past 18 months bearable is still intact. Thanks to Seth, all of the talented writers, Wally and the rest of the crew for this pretty awesome show!

Thank you so much for " everyone calls them f.... Legos." After a pandemic where everybody seems to have an ironclad opinion about everything, and for having been corrected over my life many many many times over people having stringent narrow opinions like Lego bricks I really appreciated your response to that. I was watching this first thing in the morning sort of trying to find a reason to get out of bed. Bursting out laughing is a great way to sit up and go on with the rest of my day. Thank you so much. You're right everyone calls them Legos.
@vaguerant3 жыл бұрын
My take on this whole thing is that Lego is just a brand name; it's not in the dictionary or anything. Technically, you're also supposed to write Lego in all caps, but it's not an acronym for anything. "LEGO bricks" is what the Lego marketing department wants you to call them, but are you *wrong* if you just don't do what Lego PR would like? I'd say if you're not getting paid by Lego to say it a specific way, stop carrying their water for them.

In Denmark - the land of LEGO :) - we would never say Legos, but instead LEGO bricks (LEGO klodser, in Danish spelled in one word: legoklodser), the LEGO (Danish, LEGO'et) referring to more LEGO bricks or LEGO sets. And usually we would just say LEGO. In Danish the "s" in LEGOs would make it a possessive noun, and Legos (in Danish spelled with no apostrophe) would be interpreted as what is belonging to LEGO, the company. :D

I'm not usually a commenter, but I've been a viewer since episode one of Late Night and have spent 2/3 of my life enjoying Seth's comedic sensibility through SNL. I have to admit, I was one of the concerned regarding audiences coming back. I worried that the magic and change in rhythm that came with the isolated in-8G era would be lost. I always felt like the Seth Meyers iteration of Late Night used their writers and crew better than any late night show in my lifetime, so having them as the only audience was my favorite period of the show yet. Corrections has felt like the silliest and most genuine addition to come out of the whole run, so when Seth assured the audience that nothing was going to change I was grateful. With all that said not only have audiences this week been game, but the rhythm that Seth and the crew formed and practiced for the last 19 months being implemented live is an absolutely incredible payoff. I was so thrilled watching the show that I'm being *genuine* on the *internet.* I'm being the opposite of a jackal. PS Bring back Sea Captain. It's the right thing to do.

We know your Vince Vaughn impression. Those live audience members are just haters. 3) "This area has been cleaned and disinfected with love." When I read that I literally put my hand to my heart. 4) Not be THAT JACKAL, but the "Corrections: Audience-free since March 2020" card is wrong, because it implies that you've been doing Corrections without an audience since March 2020, and I think we all know that Corrections really began with Seth correcting himself over Lego bricks and the Doof Warrior on February 10th and 11th of 2021, and the first official Corrections being for the week of March 1st.

Correction: "double-sided" clothing typically refers to something that is fully reversible, aka something you can wear inside out with a different pattern showing. Seth merely turned the knit cap around; the same side is still outward facing.

So really he just has pictures on both sides...not reversible or double-sided? Dual patterned? Excellent hat @pattylyons. If only Seth could get it right when describing it.....😔
@trishhunt40853 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. If something is double-sided, like a sign or a tshirt, it means there is a graphic on the front and on the back. Both always visible (like Seth's hat). Clothing that is "reversible" means it can be turned inside out for a completely different colour/pattern /graphic. In the case of the hat, Seth was correct.
@tiny999903 жыл бұрын
@@trishhunt4085 True, otherwise it'd be reversible
@catherineoconnell63463 жыл бұрын
Not to “over-jackel” but the hat could be double sided. Fellow members of the foul-mouthed knitting community are aware of a technique where you knit with two strands of yarn (different colors) to generate a double-thickness fabric with a pattern that is inverted. Attempting to do with without a mistake is what promotes verbal abuse of the needles, the yarn, the pattern and all persons within earshot of the crafting. Also if Seth wants free stuff he needs to invite Sutton Foster onto the show. She might make him something.
@mangisan3 жыл бұрын

It can actually be either "and I" or "and me," depending on the sentence. If you're a subject in the sentence, then it's "I," and if you're an object, it's "me". For example, you would say "My brother and I went home," because you and your brother are doing the action. And you would say, "He pointed at my brother and me," because in this sentence, you're an object. To know which one you should use, you can just try the sentence with "I" or "me". In the case of the two sentences above, you would say "I went home" and "He pointed at me," and not "Me went home," and "He pointed at I".
