All of this exquisite....from the Spring Yellows to Autumn Plum tones, those butterflies, birds, flowers, gorgeous speckled eggs, were they Kingfishers, Figs and Irises I spotted? those doorways, and everything else that graced the pages of this divine creation of yours, thanking you sincerely for the inspiration of this journal you so generously showed to the world. "One must be careful what one takes etc" quote - a more apt one could not have been read aloud by you today, hit the spot for a juncture in my personal heroes journey that is nigh, a path only I can take and not be spared so thank you Kelly - Wonderful unique artist/creator. 💝

I loved this!! So SO pretty!! & thought pondering? It's kind of inspiring me to make my own with my own poetry, I've been thinking about it for awhile. I love that you didn't talk alot either, you just let the pieces stand out on their own, like a portal to another dimension.

I can't even remember where I got those grapes and whatnot although I do have a big box of botanicals and fruit is so fun to work with.

I love all of this, Kelly! Especially the arches and the entrances. But I think my favorite is the one with the purple plums and fruit, I also love all the pears and figs throughout and how it gives it continuity. Great job, Kelly!

Hi Randy. I collect them. I have tons of old books and field guides and holy cards. While some of the birds are vintage, I also use bird images from coffee table books and birdwatching magazines. ​@BookandPaperArts I've never been lobbed by swallow thank goodness but I have been dive bombed by an aggressive territorial magpie during nesting season which wasn't much fun - those beaks are very pointy! I'm sure 'your' bird is related to that magpie! 😉

I think it is important to see that one can work slowly and periodically through a journal and not stick to a rigorous schedule. I find myself attracted to 52-week projects and then when I am unable to work on them to schedule or I decide I no longer like the direction the presenter has taken, I get stuck., It is difficult to get back to these projects, but when I revisit them I am surprised by how much good work I have done and am inspired to do a bit more. Your last page is a reminder that we can decide when we are done and an unfinished page is itself a record of the process. Thanks for sharing.

Did you set out to create something religious or spiritual in nature? I’m always curious about the thoughts artists have about what they’re creating, and whether that had chosen a ‘direction’ before starting, or just let themselves be led. Dear Steph, thank you for this thoughtful question. While I do pray and meditate in my real life, I wouldn't say that I do it in my pages, although I do plan to do so more and more. At this point it is more as if I am communing with the pieces and communicating back and forth. I do hope that my pages evoke something mysterious and to that end an aspect of spirituality. As I am not Catholic or even traditionally religious (I'm more of a Transcendentalist), the use of the traditional religious iconography is an homage to mystery inherent in stories and faith rather than a straight-forward devotional thing.
