The Plane was on flaps, therefore it had little maneuverability and pilots had very little control of the craft! Why would Military craft be in Civilian Airspace? They stay away from it. I would believe it was a DRONE that went straight at the Airliner! That would be more believable!! Make more sense.

They didn't COLLIDE; the AA plane was EXACTLY where it was supposed to be. The Army helicopter failed to identify the passenger plane as it was supposed to do, then THE HELICOPTER crashed into the plane. Don't use word that make it sound like the pilots of the AA plane had ANYTHING to do with the crash. Also, the helo didn't have ADSB or if it had it installed it wasn't turned on, either way it's inexcusable. The AA pilots had no way of seeing the Army helo without it. Now 60+ people are dead. @@donkey3187 nope, thats inaccurate. The Aircraft was on an ILS controlled approach ON the glide-path, IN THE CORRECT POSITION, the Chopper was VFR under ATC communication. The VFR chopper was asked by ATC if they had visual contact with the landing IFR aircraft, they responded in the affirmative, they then proceeded to intersect with the IFR aircraft. It is the responsibility of the VFR aircraft to avoid the intersect. CHOPPER IS AT FAULT. NO FAULT on ATC as they asked the correct questions of the VFR chopper, and NOT the inbound ILS aircraft as they were on the glide-path, in the correct position and in communication with ATC. The military pilot took 66 souls and himself.

@@sounddoctor5decades Chopper may have made mistakes, but ultimately ATC was at fault. They asked the chopper if they saw the plane. Chopper said yes, But chopper was looking at the wrong plane. ATC was supposed to say, "Do you see the plane to your left at 11:00" ,for example, to make sure the pilot has eyes on the correct plane. You can see how not doing that allowed the accident to happen. Also, ATC could have given the chopper directions on where to go when they saw an impending possibe collision on radar, instead of, "do you see it" ATC didnt follow protocol and f'd up big time. They actually saw both aircraft and were in a position prevent it with more direction and specificity. ATC failed.
@mimcduffee86
@mimcduffee86 7 күн бұрын
@@donkey3187 See though, what you are choosing to ignore is that we all have access to listen to the ATC recording at the time of the incident. The 18m32s leading up to it and the 13m24s directly following it. ATC asked the helo if they could see the plane. PAT25 (the helo) confirmed. ATC told PAT25 to pass *behind* CRJ (the passenger plate). Then PAT25 was flown directly into the passenger plane's approach.

A different camera angle in the direction of the helicopter's flifhgt would show the helicopter appearing to be stationary, and the landing plane flying towards it. only bright from the ground. Though Something is off why in the hell a helicopter is flying in front of a runway with a plane on approach with a tower controlling the airspace. That I do not understand. The airplane would have had zero visibility of that helicopter since its nose would have been pointed up. The Only thing I can think of is the training flight thought they had a box around the airport for training and someone at the tower effed up and sent the plane to the wrong runway.

Heli can't see with night vision google on it's side + focusing on the other plane in front of him. Air Traffic Control did not give altitude and location of the incoming flight. The helicopter was also following Baltimore Washington terminal chart helicopter route 4, which for a few miles north and south of the airport requires helicopters to travel no higher than 200 feet ASL. The helicopter was at 200 for most its flight but climbed to 300 feet moments before the collision. Was it trying to avoid and mistakenly climbed right into it, or was it a deliberate act? That is where we are now.
@ThereIsAlwaysaWay2
@ThereIsAlwaysaWay2 7 күн бұрын
@@DNHarris It's near impossible to aim at at plane with an helicopter while climbing up (for physics reasons, trajectory, rate of climb etc). You have to 1/10 of a second to hit. And ATC did not give the altitude, coordonates and bearing of the plane to the BH, making it doubly impossible. MAJOR FAULT OF ATC because protocol demand you share coord of the plane you want BH to keep visual contact with. Pilot probably mistaken for the other plane that was in front of him, felt safe.

The person ultimately responsible is dead, the helicopter pilot. They flew into the landing space of an incredibly busy commercial airport. Could have flown a quarter mile farther away at that altitude and been totally fine and out of danger.

You know that the aviation industry has been saying FOR YEARS that these incidents are inevitable because of how terrible our air practices are all these years later they havent evolved. Many think it won't change until a huge catastrophic accident, like Tenerfie. I hope they're wrong....

What hasn't evolved? You apparently don't know much about the modernization of ATC and aircraft navigation that took place since 2010. It doesnt matter how much it evolves, you can't take the human facter out of it. Whether it's the human that programs it or the human that flys it. Ultimately, there is a human somewhere.

Airplanes are really safe now. Human errors happen and not only humans, machines also malfuncion and there is gonna be an accident like this from time to time, but for every accident like this there is millions of safe flights.

@@12w0He is taking that out of Trumps play book! Just say something that nobody is talking about and say everyone is taking about it! Then boom! Everyone is talking about it! LOL! This dude probably works at Wendy’s and has no connection to the aviation industry! 😂😂
