You can see how not doing that allowed the accident to happen. Also, ATC could have given the chopper directions on where to go when they saw an impending possibe collision on radar, instead of, "do you see it" ATC didnt follow protocol and f'd up big time. They actually saw both aircraft and were in a position prevent it with more direction and specificity. ATC failed.

It's very evident that it was an intentional wreck, the helicopter turned right and very rapidly picked up speed to intercept the plane as it was on final to land , the air traffic controller gave the helicopter pilot an instruction to go behind the landing CRJ but he didn't do it he went directly towards the airplane.

At night when you’re at the same altitude or above another aircraft it’s extremely difficult to see the other plane. The position lights and anti collision strobes blend in with the city lights.
@ThereIsAlwaysaWay27 күн бұрын
Heli can't see with night vision google on it's side + focusing on the other plane in front of him. Air Traffic Control did not give altitude and location of the incoming flight. Looks like it's ATC fault with limited info we have atm. My bet is ATC DEI hiring, FAA has creasy Diversity and Inclusions quotas to fulfill when hiring Tower Controllers.
@DNHarris7 күн бұрын
The helicopter was also following Baltimore Washington terminal chart helicopter route 4, which for a few miles north and south of the airport requires helicopters to travel no higher than 200 feet ASL. The helicopter was at 200 for most its flight but climbed to 300 feet moments before the collision. Was it trying to avoid and mistakenly climbed right into it, or was it a deliberate act? That is where we are now.
@ThereIsAlwaysaWay27 күн бұрын
@@DNHarris It's near impossible to aim at at plane with an helicopter while climbing up (for physics reasons, trajectory, rate of climb etc). You have to 1/10 of a second to hit. And ATC did not give the altitude, coordonates and bearing of the plane to the BH, making it doubly impossible. MAJOR FAULT OF ATC because protocol demand you share coord of the plane you want BH to keep visual contact with. Pilot probably mistaken for the other plane that was in front of him, felt safe.

If this wasnt intentional the incompetence needed by the helicopter pilot is staggering.
