Welcome to my chanell. In this video, I'm excited to share with you the newest update on the Sky Bike, my innovative sports aviation invention.
This Sky Bike is a unique design that combines the leg power of biking with the excitement of flying. It's been in development for quite some time, and I'm thrilled to show you the latest update.
I'll also give you a behind-the-scenes look at the design and construction process of the Sky Bike.
This is a must-watch for anyone who loves homemade aviation inventions, extreme sports, or just wants to see something truly unique and innovative.

Hey Greg, Ive been following you for a few years now and really facinated by your design. I'm very keen to start my own independent HPA quite soon, a design I have been working on since before I found your videos. It is really different to yours and the Jinker. I am confident that human powered ornithopters are capable of sustained, high altitude and highly manoeuvrable flight. I see a couple of things improvements in your design that I believe may make it more stable and efficient, however I am also keen to see how yours performs as you have envisaged it. I think that if you can ensure stable foot launch ridge soaring and thermal gliding as hang gliders do then the ornithopter component can be further developed and may assist in providing critical thrust in emergency situations i.e what we Hangie pilots call 'scratching'. One idea I can add is that I agree with another poster about using stored spring energy to assist on the return stroke to maximise power generation etc.. Good luck brother!

humans was have achieved flight with helicopter bike, and helicopters are way less efficient than winged flight, It can be done, I for one would start with an Evolution of a hang glider, and evolve it into a bike glider. You are going for a full on sport control! I like your concepts!

what did I stumble on, never seen anything like this, or a culture for it. i thought about kinetic or stored energy using sails before. maybe if somehow there was some sort of stored reaction in the movements, which could maybe make for more power. using some sort of bungee, or like how animals have ligaments, hydrolics, springs, idk just tossing ideas. good work

Check out carlos ornithopter lacuesta if you're interested in seeing more of this subculture. I literally just stumbled upon this myself, but it seems for years people have been trying to home-brew their own ornithopters in hopes of one day taking to the skys in their own backyard. Carlos's design has a bungee/elastic exoskeleton system, but despite the countless redesigns, it has yet to take off. I think he could get it gliding if he increased the wingspan, and I'm pretty sure the one featured in this video here could also glide. The challenge is getting it to stay in the air, and the ultimate goal is getting it to take off from the ground.
@Pastenture

@@That_One_Xatu right, I was thinking greater wingspan also. Cool stuff i'm going to check out carlos. Been looking at glider planes, thats how I got here. Thanks for the reference. Would be awesome to see someone start flapping and rise up, its going to happen soon. Got me thinking of insects wings, maybe the design under the wings, could improve the lift too. Something about these green beetles wings, forget the names of the exact beetles.

Also a computer would help you by adding a take off program this will control how the wings move on take off , and different program once your on air gliding , another program where it controls the wings on a landing , in all this all you would have to do is give the wings man power and the computer would be able to tell you how much man power is needed on take off and how much to continue gliding,and how much for landing, the computer would be able to lock the wings in a certain position for take off or gliding or landing and also direction.

You have chosen a difficult nut to crack! Something I would watch out for is mishap/crash physics. Even in ground handling it looks quite dangerous if a gust was to flip the wing onto its back... your head is quite exposed. Your neck and spine also looks to be at risk from various incursions. Good luck on your adventures :)

As a hang glider pilot for over 20 years, I've thought about a flapping mechanism often. I don't think it's possible to launch from flat ground but launching from a mountain and soaring in thermic conditions with supplemental flapping could actually work, with the proper torque multipliers and lightweight materials of course. When I was a child, I saw a movie called Brewster McCloud. The flying prop used in the movie was obviously on wires, but it has been in my head for over 40 years and is actually pretty bad ass even if unairworthy. The movie is a little odd, but worth a watch. Here is a link to the flight: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5zGYp6ioLONprM I was also intrigued by the part in Arty Clarke's book: 3001 The Final Odyssey where in the geostationary satellite ring with low gravity people had suits to fly and flap with. Flap on Brother. Someone is going to figure it out.

Your centers of mass and inertia do not look right for safety. In layman's terms - With this type of aircraft for stability and ease of control your body needs to be positioned so your head is below the wings. This is what probably killed Lilienthal in 1896.

Am I the only one who thinks you've got way too much time and way too few brain cells? You'll never, ever fly flapping your wings. The reason birds can do it is because their upper body strength to weight ratio allows it. Humans are way to heavy and under powered to ever be able to flap wings like a bird to achieve flight. It's nice to dream but this is the dream of a boy, and your around 30 yrs past that. Er,,, should be anyway
