I think these rules are against the basic rights given to passport holders as part of that legislation. The Spanish are requiring more information than what you need to give to get a passport! Hopefully some countries will challenge this ridiculous and overreaching rule

Hi , Hondon de los Frailes is only cheap if you buy a wreck ,most properties in good order are not that cheap infact for inland they are a fare bit more than you mentioned on your visit ,lots of brand new builds over 300 thousand euros in and around the area,best folks take a look themselves . My wife and I are at present going through the none lucrative visa application. We have been waiting 9 weeks for a reply. No information or update as to WTF is going on. Now this bull shit. We are becoming very disillusioned with the whole thing. We have had a place in spain since 2008 . I love the people and the country of Spain but their politicians suck. Funny how the people this will Impact most is people who want to visit Spain and spend money there. I’d say most will be white. They go on to justify this crap in order to clamp down on terrorism yet they intend to give 300,000 illegal Africans (every year) residency and the authority to work. These are undocumented individuals whose real identity is unknown. None have bank accounts, I.D etc. At present we are still going through with this move but if this tightening of the screw continues we will return to the U.K. sell our place in Spain and probably never return to Spain again.

The Spanish love useless pointless bureaucracy. In my personal experience it's about the only "growth industry" in the country. They are alienating those that visit and contribute to the economy. We can soon go somewhere else - and I will. They can fxxk themselves - they won't be getting my personal data. They're so incompetent that who knows in what corrupt hands this data will end up in. Can't understand anyone who would actually take these corrupt incompetents seriously and actually chose to live there. Being a tourist is as much involvement as I'd want. Anything I want doing properly and with transparency and without corruption, I'll continue to get it done in a serious country like the UK.

Don't do it mate. Stay based in the UK. Spain is good for holidays but never, ever put yourself under their control. Their corruption and endless, pointless and useless bureaucracy will simply kill the dream - and ultimately you with it. I've been through it and am now thankfully safely back in the UK.

@ColinAtkins-j3h I found the Spanish people I met in the street to be very kind and friendly. But this contrasts fundementally to those I was forced to deal with that held positions of power. Examples of this - Notaries and lawyers ( both I found to be corrupt) Tragically at some cost ( concerning house purchase 19 years ago) I was even told by a second lawyer that I had to employ that I had a good case against the first corrupt lawyer who worked in tandem with a corrupt notary. But I was told I would never win my case "because I wasn't from here ( meaning because I wasn't Spanish) Rules, laws and even my EU rights I enjoyed ( the UK was a member of the EU at this time) meant nothing on the ground. I was on my own surrounded by criminals. You'll also find that local officials working in town halls (who have a lot of power) only move when bribed. I am multi lingual and a Spanish speaker - I was originally a huge fan of the EU. Not anymore as I understand that it is a costly irrelevance and useless to the everyday person. I will never invest another euro in Europe. Europe is great for holidays. But don't EVER put yourself under their control. All my affairs are - thanks God - managed in the UK where I have rights that I can actually trust.

How can tourists be completely sure that hotels and particularly private Airbnb’s are going to keep all this sensitive data safe when we keep hearing about large scale data security breaches and furthermore have all hotel staff and Airbnb hosts been fully vetted prior to the introduction of these new authoritarian rules? It would be find out how safely our data is being stored particularly with Airbnb hosts and how would we be informed if there was a data breach?

I'm not sure what more information you can give a car rental company. They take your credit card details, your passport and driving license. They take the address you are staying at and can check it on the vehicle when you return the car Most new rental cars have trackers. So they know everywhere you've been, how long you've spent there. Do they want to know the colour of your underpants? This is getting ridiculous. The people that want to do harm will always find a way round things while ordinary people's liberties are being eroded.

@@Realworldnews247 Most rental cars and vans have trackers. If you cross a border there are extra fees involved. The GPS system tracks you. You may be reading out of date google searches, from 2020 it all changed.

Aunque a los españoles les gusta tanto un montón de bureacracia inútil y sin fin, hay que tomar en cuenta que para la mayoría de la gente más normal, no es ningún placer. Los turistas vienen para descansar, visitar..no llenar formularios interminables y inútiles. Es quizás un placer nacional para los españoles, pero el resto del mundo tiene mejor que hacer en la vida. Dos gran sucesos económicos españoles son vender verduras a europa y el turismo - y al turismo, con su actitud, se lo está destrozando. Su gobierno tendrá que aprender menos arrogancia sino, como usted dice, sus clientes turistas no estarán obligados a venir. Es une elección económica. Si ustedes ya no quieren a esta actividad turística, pues que sigan adelante con esta actitud. A sus clientes prospectivos, no les hará falta mucho tiempo para enterarse.

It’s always been like that renting a car or staying in hotel/ Airbnb; you have to give them your address, although you can refuse but not anymore I think 👍 just put down a fake address if you don’t want to give your real one 😂

The reason is because of all the past fraud. Now is like a *Pause* while administration sorts out all of the past paperwork. Thats why the street cleaning, road updates etc... Are happening atm. Residents have been taxed over the past few yrs & that raised their budgets... But now is *Pause time* before end of the tax year in April. Like a 4 month chillout & get their books in order 🫳🏼🎤✌🏼💯💃🏼

@matthewharris3993 I only know these things because I had 2 bars here until last year & paid too much money into the community administration.. That was 2yrs ago. They then paid me back & the books were out of sync, they thought the president was doing fraud by paying me back the overspent money of mine & administration opened an investigation. Since then, I can tell you pretty much anything you need to know. They realised how much they were loosing & have been cashing in ever since. Benalmadena looks lovely now... Just really quiet. The communities all over are going through *the process of gentrification* I won't be buying more homes until after April.
