Slick, I like it alot. Using the feeler gauges to set depth is a great idea. Nothing like a hard stop to prevent screw ups.

i've made a couple jigs over the years to hold lathe tools in the mill, yours is the logical conclusion. if i didn't have a lathe, i would have definitely built something similar. i like your idea of the gauging space, it is cheaper than my idea of mounting an indicator

A future version will include an indicator mount and a few other things. Steve

Happy New Year Sir, and thank you for sharing. I have a cnc mill, 2 cnc lathes, and 1 manual lathe (hobbyist). It is always good to have another "tool" in your belt, and I appreciate your giving me another one. I like that compound block idea; good engineering.

Hi Zed, We hope to have a website in the next 6 months. Right now we have a lot of product being outsourced for CNC work. We are going to try and get some inventory before the web site. You can always contact us at the email in the video if you want some of our products. If there's none in stock we will put you on the waiting list. Steve

Very cool! I've been doing the other way around, milling on the lathe (as I mentioned at the Good of the Land fest). I've finally bought a mill, so I will be using the lathe for lathe-work, and the mill for mill work - at least mostly. No DRO on the mill, so will have to still rely on classic measuring and figuring (and, in my case, some "trial and error" - but that's how you learn).

I agree, I learn a lot in my failed attempts at doing things too. Steve

Hi Gary, I use the mill for lathe work often. I made a bunch of 2 step pins out of 3/8 A2 drill rod a couple of days ago. It was very fast and very accurate. I would have had a hard time doing them as fast and consistent on a lathe. 12 pins in about 40 minutes. Steve

That is awesome, great unit. What’s the math for the angle to the distance you need to go to make a cut of a set distance??? I’m a little weak on that. Thanks for sharing
@SolidRockMachineShopInc5 жыл бұрын
The depth of cut was called out on the print from the surface of the 30 degree angle so no math on my part was needed. Steve

15 years ago I was using my mill as a lathe to cut down a piece of reloading brass. The heat make the primer fire and I got a loud noise in my face. ... but the mill vise does make a good lathe tool holder.

Nice idea, the hard stop will get you right every time... Great for smaller parts where high speed is a plus, a big chuck at 2000 RPMs is scary as a milling spindle with a collet at 3500 RPMs is more common... Wish all of you a great Holiday Season...
