For the next one, could you you try roleplaying as a raider? Militarist, authoritarian, Xenophobe, with oligarchic authority, and civics are Barbaric Despoilers and slaver guilds and use habitat start. The goal is to ally with no one, steal and enslave pops from every other empire and reduce them all to tiny rump states of a couple planets. You can make everyone join a hegemony, and once you become totally in charge, abuse a combo of kicking members out and then using the join or die CB as an excuse to go in, steal most of their pops and keep them in line. Use planets for your enslaved pops, and habitats for your main species. Beyond that, go nuts. Edit: thoughts on species traits: nonadaptive is a freeby for this one, so take that one. Idk what other traits would be good. Edit 2: rapid breeders might be good to counteract the void dwellers downside? Idk if strong and one of the research boosters or intelligent would be better. Definitely want to go the genetic engineering route with this and specialize species. Make your original species into perfect leaders, and have livestock+lithoid slaves on multiple thrall worlds to make minerals, food and rare resources.

The idea with habitats is to be able to build as many habitats as you possibly can, along with using planets as resource and pop mills while your habitats turn into massive bastions.

My fanatic materialist Megacorp, has been flexible enough to convert to spiritualist with gospel of the masses. For some reason, I have hit this twice in 3.0 play throughs, it's interesting to see the effect of different ethics in options. Then the amenities & ethics conversion is a help, I am a little bemused by psionic route though, there's a gradual shift but I don't need more unity, consecrating worlds adds to it, yet I finished every tradition decades before 2350.

Latharik to truly turtle up you need giant shell - the Birch world from Gigastructural engineering mod - build it at galactic core, settle thousands of faithful there and watch the faithless burn P.S. Same mod also allows making/breaking of hyperlanes - if you want completely cut off the rest of galaxy...

Idea: Decadent Hierarchy run Fanatic Authoritarian/Xenophile, Slave Guilds civic, Genetic Ascension path, engineer each species to fulfill certain roles: worker species (base resource production traits), Specialist/scientist species(intelligent, traditional), and leader species (traditional, charismatic, thrifty).

Little known fact: upgraded buildings produce more resource per job than their lower level counterparts. Ring world and ecumenopolis (i.e. consumer goods, alloys, research) are the most efficient overall

I doubled checked to make sure, and I can see no evidence of this unless I'm being a dumb dumb (As I often am.) and am missing something? Upgraded buildings give more jobs, but the jobs are identical to their lower level counterparts. One of my worlds has a single research building, a second world has a single upgraded research building and per job they are producing the same amount of research per job - Only that there are more jobs available with the upgraded building. When mousing over the buildings: Regular research building - +2 jobs - overall job output 8 research (Jobs base production) - Meaning 4 research in all fields per job. Upgraded research building - +5 jobs - Overall job output 20 research (Jobs base production) - So still 4 research in all fields per job. When I looked at the details of each researcher individually, all populations were giving the same amount of research, It was higher than the 4 per job only because of other modifiers and the jobs from the upgraded building and the regular were identical in the total output per job and had the same modifiers with no indication of one from the building itself. I also checked the ecumenopolis and the only difference was the +20% that all jobs get on that world type. Again, I could be wrong, happens a lot haha! but I just can't see any evidence that upgraded buildings give more resource per job, not just more jobs.

Lathland, firstly thanks for the videos, I expect it's a lot of work - so I'm about to ask you to do some more work! I watch the videos and think "I'll try that", then leave your video running on a 2nd screen and play in parallel. My problem is, some decisions you make are hard to find when I go to rewind - where did he talk about the ascension perks again? Which expansion policy did he go with? My point is, could you add some indexes to the video so we can quickly find key decisions and reasoning? On another note, I'd love to see some vanilla empires and more in-depth first 50 years in general. Once you come out of the start ahead of the pack, I find the rest takes care of itself for me.

When you set the federation to have the golden rule election type you should have put the term limit to the lowest setting. If you do that then you can get the bonuses from the golden rule election more often.
