The rhythmic part you were referring to is indeed 'Taala' or 'Taalam' as referred to in south India. 'Taalam' is considered as the alphabets for beats. Just like 'Do Re Mi' or 'Sa Re Ga Ma' in the Indian context are alphabets for melody. The practice of reciting the 'Taalam' in a rhythmic and musical manner is called 'Konnakkol' and is used primarily in Carnatic and Hindustani Classical Music, albeit they are slightly different becaus the alphabets are different. It means "I praise thee, Mother". Here mother is referred to India as it is very common for Indians to call India as "maa" or "mother" or " Bharat mata" . Bharat is the oldest Name of India. Kannada is a tricky one, the 'd' is a hard 'd' like in English rather than a soft 'd' like in Spanish. Both sounds are transliterated in the same way unfortunately. Btw the words Kannada, Karnataka, and Carnatic (music) are all from the same root
