The correct term is Their Majesties, not the honourable.

The honorable is a blanket term for Hou’eiki and royalty. Honorable is often the word used in translation when someone says Afioná, interchangeably with majesty.

Incognacious right, what do I know? I’m just a palangi missionary. I speak 4 languages fluently. Yet I should educate myself. There is a difference between the royal language and the noble of course, but they are conflated all the time. Why do the scriptures say “Ne pekia a Sisū”? Pekia is the hou’eiki word for death, not royal, and Diety is spoken of in royalty. They should say “hala”. This even happens with the common language when they sometimes translate hand to “nima” instead of “to’ukupu.” Your majesties would also be fitting, and more accurate. But to comment that The Honorable is some mistake and disrespectful is incorrect. Translators sometimes choose the honorable when saying “Afioná”, but they never do when someone says “Ke Lakoifie/Lakoifua ho Afió.” That’s just how it is. The church did no wrong with those words. Period. Sorry for not being educated enough.
