@P8riot 77 what makes him a prophet? If we compare how prophets of old were called to the lds prophets they are nothing alike. Prophets were not called based on seniority.

@P8riot 77 this is not how prophets were called in the Bible. If this is a restoration it should have some resemblance of the original. It is just as I said, they are called by seniority. You know exactly who will be the next prophet unless of course he passes away and the next man in line will take his place.

@P8riot 77 I'm not referring to the polygamist groups. There are many more within Mormonism that have never practiced polygamy. Let's discuss priesthood. There is one main passage that deals with the priesthood of all believers. It is as follows: "You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ … But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:5-9). Old Testament priests were chosen by God, not self-appointed; and they were chosen for a purpose: to serve God with their lives by offering up sacrifices. The priesthood served as a picture or "type" of the coming ministry of Jesus Christ--a picture that was then no longer needed once His sacrifice on the cross was completed. When the thick temple veil that covered the doorway to the Holy of Holies was torn in two by God at the time of Christ's death (Matthew 27:51), God was indicating that the Old Testament priesthood was no longer necessary. Now people could come directly to God through the great High Priest, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:14-16). There are now no earthly mediators between God and man as existed in the Old Testament priesthood (1 Timothy 2:5).

Kim Cha, your comment shows you don’t know the bible very well. The bible does say man can become gods. John 10:30-36 says that when the Jews accused Jesus of blasphemy for equalling Himself to God, Jesus said that the law says “ye are gods”, and that such a law cannot be broken. He used the law to prove he is a God, and the law Jesus was referring to is Psalms 82:6, which is talking about man being gods because, if they hold out faithful to the end, they will receive godhood. This is why Romans 8:16-18 says that we are joint-heirs with Christ and will be glorified together. Only gods are glorified. So with that glory promised us comes also the bestowal of godhood. You’ll be surprised at how many of our doctrines taught by Joseph Smith are actually biblical. It’s just that you and Israel Folau need to do a thorough study of the bible.
