Love the pov view of hikes like these! Most videos use drones and you barely get to see what the trail would look like if u hiked it yourself... Thank for sharing!

Thanks for sharing. I'm planning on doing it this coming July. Do you feel four nights of camping was perfect for mileage on the trail?

Solomon and la sportiva. Merino wool socks really helped too.

How much do I have to suppose the lowest air-temperature in July?
@andykreiner5062 Жыл бұрын
Shouldn't be any lower than 30 or 40 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm not 100% sure though

Wow! I'm going next August. Would you mind sharing the distance covered each day?
@andykreiner50622 жыл бұрын
You will not regret it! Such an awesome hike. I don't know the distances exactly but it was about 50 miles total so I'm guessing each day was approx. 10 miles give or take. I know some days were more than others. We skipped some of the campsites too so you can easily extend the trip to be 6 or 7 days if you wanted to do less distance some days.

Hey you guys, I`m hiking Iceland since 1990 and mostly out of Season and in the Highlands only. I`ve done the Laugavegur several times, even Solo Snowshoeing in Winter. Also I`m a member of one of the Icelandic Hiking Clubs. You made a quit nice vid about your trip and I guess you enjoyed it quit a bit. BUT on the 4th Day..... YOU WERE CLEARLY WILD CAMPING in between Emstruar-Botnar Hut and not far away from Thorsmörk..... WHAT IS ABSOLUTLEY PROHIBITAD, and there are information signs all over the place.... NOT TO DO SO............THAT WAS TOTALLY UNCOOL from you...... :-(( Camping alongside the Laugavegur and Fimmvörduhals is ALLOWED DIRECTLY BY THE MOUNTAIN HUTS ONLY .... PERIODE !!!!! I`m sorry to be that clear, but the nature in that area and at most places in the Highlands is that much fragile and the amount of Hikers on the trail have increased insanely in the last 10-15 years, that additional wild camping on top of all that would harm the flora and fauna even more so ! SO AGAIN PLEASE ..........CAMP BY THE HUTS ONLY .....and make sure, your hiking plans and hiking distanced per day are calculated that way, that you could reach one of the huts that are serviced by ferdafelag islands and Utivist ( the two most popular Icelandic Hiking Clubs ), before sundown so you could have an enjoyable and restfull evening. Thank you

You do know camping in "the wild" and not at the designated huts is illegal. Would be great if you edited that part out so others do not get ideas.

Wasn't by choice. It was due to us not reaching the campground before nightfall. Not something we are recommending.

@@andykreiner5062 Not a credible answer, really, as nightfall--even late August--wouldn't have been until around 11pm. No excuse for wild camping on the Laugavegur Trail.
