Recorded on Sunday April 14, 2019 just a day before the catastrophic fire engulfed Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, altering the city's skyline and threatening a potent symbol of Catholicism at the start of Holy Week.

it's amazing how in the US, churches are not allowed to ring their bells because of noise complaints and it is considered noise nuisance. To me, there is nothing better than church bells on the hour, alerting you to the time of day and there is something comforting about church bells on sunday at 11AM... it's not as if they ring bells for hours or at 6AM

Mark M. In my parish, St. Nicholas if Tolentine, the bells ring every hour on the hour starting at 7a.m. till 9p.m. every day of the week and, other Catholic parishes ring their bells as well. It is so beautiful especially in the morning hours. One feels as if God was calling us to go to mass.

Big Ben is back striking the hours away. Hopefully notre-dame won't be too far off. I have heard that they have already started constructing the new spire exactly how the original one was. Including the deformations from the original which is cool. The base of that spire has already been lowered onto the roof.

I do believe most of the bell towers around the world were designed and built before our time, before a reset, a cataclysm. If you se the technology of some of the greatest remaining, they are grand instruments similar to an organ. The re is a video somewhere online of a lady playing it. Unbelievable if you didn’t see her play and the myriad of different shaped bells and the quantity. They were not necessarily even churches. Not everything in the old world is a temple or sanctuary.

@J CH So you think intentionally causing a fire that could've potentially collapsed the entire structure was on purpose in order to 'save' it? The French State owns the building and since it was priceless insurance won't "cover it." And you also believe that the firefighters were in on it and purposely saved the cross? And even IF this was on purpose (which it wasn't), why can't people donate money to it? What is the problem with donating to save an internationally beloved monument?

Take nothing for granted in this life. It could be gone tomorrow... or the next day. Be thankful for every beautiful thing, for every moment of health, for every day in which you are aware that you live on the best planet that ever was. Dedicate yourself to do good things, and whenever possible great things.

If it was recorded on the 15th, it was taken on the same day. Since it looks like it was taken only a few hours before

You know I was just thinking that! I was thinking, "How Convieeeenient it is to have someone up there the day before recording the bells of Notre Dame? Who's to say it wasn't the DAY OF the fire? What was their business up there? They couldn't record it from ground level!? So many questions...

Toute la France est en deuil de la destruction de ce grand monument historique. On pleurera longtemps.
