Did you ever do a video on how to measure the weather for maximum horsepower?
@RobertMacCreadyАй бұрын
Yes, I mentioned it when I did acceleration runs with the 2022 Corvette. Density Altitude is the measurement you want. If you live near an airport, that info could be on their website. I do give the formula to figure out the DA.

Wow, amazing! 2 possible ways to add a fraction or two of speed. 1. When your in "Mexico" next, empty the gas down to almost empty and 2, Find a straight road. As you enter that slight left turn, in "Mexico", you are introducing just the slightest bit of unnecessary g-force friction! Almost not noticeable I'm sure, but when you are looking for a fraction of a second, every bit counts right! Love your channel, we are almost neighbors! On the list at Stingray, just down the road. Can't wait!!

So is it 500 or 1500 miles that GM will warranty the car if it's broken from launch control?
@okaythen001 Жыл бұрын
Hi for Z51 if I do launch control 3,4 times every weekend, should be fine or? (on street and stock tires) I believe for Z51 it's under warranty if you take it to a drag strip, but I still don't want to break it or put too much wear/ tear into it. Wondering if any Z51 had problems doing launches every weekend and if I should cut down since I heard there are other DCT probelms other than doing launches.
@RobertMacCready Жыл бұрын
I just did about a dozen launches in the last couple of days trying to beat my 2020 C8's time of 2.8 sec. (in my 2022) BUT the best I was able to get was 3.2. In searching for an answer I found that my D/A was not good and that I was losing 15 or so HP. So, I'm waiting for better weather conditions and will try it again. I think it's healthy to exercise the car at full send. I'm not saying to do it every day but every week or two I think is good for the car. If it breaks, GM should fix it. Imaging how many launches GM did in testing out this car...

I read where @ 500 miles the computer boost the timing etc for extra 125 or 150 hp. I can't remember which. So the computer holds back for the first 500 miles the unleashes the full 495 hp. So I really don't understand the "go easy" until 1500 advice from GM. If the computer is allowing full power @ 500 miles. then it sounds to me like the initial break in is done. In the past it has always been to change the oil after the break in period on any new car but I hear GM says you don't have to until later on the c8. I am curious what your manual says about the first oil change interval ?
@RobertMacCready3 жыл бұрын
Good question. Not sure on the HP but I never went over 4K rpms on the first 500. The, go easy till the 1st 1500 miles, is like, if you want to track your car or drive it really hard. So, I waited till I got 1500 miles. Owner's manual says 1st 1500 miles don't do track events, sport driving schools, or similar activities. And check the engine oil every gas fill-up. Make sure the oil temp is at least 175F and the engine is left running. On changing the oil, I'm told at least once a year or if your oil life indicator is low. Manual says that car has a computer that evaluated a combination of factors and will calculate WHEN you need to change the oil and filter. I usually change when the oil life indicator gets below 20%.

Was in drive. No problem with the tint. Police are good guys in my area. Now, if I were back in MA, that's a different story.

I lost my C6 Z51 in hurricane Irma. In 5 years I'm cashing in some of my 401K and getting a new vette. By the way, Looks like they have nice roads in Mexico. Lol.

Just curious if you did launch with foot less on the brake which sets the RPM lower at around 2k like you showed when you said it wasn't ready to launch....what is the result?
@RobertMacCready Жыл бұрын
I found it to be slower.

One of the first YT videos I watched is a guy in a white 2020 c8 and his fastest was a 2.6. I'm sure you can equal or beat that. I'm curious what the c8 z06 will do. I predict maybe a flat 2.0 -what do you think sir?

My goal was 2.8 so I stopped there. I'm sure if I played with tire pressures and a few other things I might be able to get 2 more tenths. But I'm waiting for the Z06 (I'm #2 at my local dealer) so might have it this summer...(but now I'm hearing a possible strike again this year) Maybe I should go buy a Tesla Plaid and go Ferrari hunting...haha!!!

@@RobertMacCready are you keeping the one you got or trading, selling ? I was just at the bank and a guy was leaving in a Tesla here in Vegas. I didn't care for the whiny sound when he was backing up. Sounded really strange

Will you get a better exhaust for the car?
@RobertMacCready3 жыл бұрын
Maybe headers and high flow cats. Looked at some of the new exhausts and they're way over priced.
