launch Control Demo in Track Mode, C8 Corvette

Launch Control Video of the C8 Corvette using the Track Mode settings.
Last video used only Sport Mode. In car and outside the car video.
Got a straight strip of asphalt to test on. No more curves.
Been working on a PTM (Performance Traction Management) video but got a setback. My 2 cats knocked one of my cameras on the floor and destroyed the lens. Got a new one coming so should get back to filming shortly.

Many recommendations against driving the street in track mode if you have mag ride as the suspension is so tight people are bending their rims with the smallest Of holes or bumps in the road - word to the wise. Fastest times for Launch mode come from Track PTM Wet mode.

Guess ya don't want to run the C8 at Sebring!! Roads here in my area are good so I don't see Track mode a problem. Strange about track mode/wet (if you are in track mode/Wet you have PTM on, and you can use launch control). Owner's manual says to only use Wet mode when it's damp or wet. And there are so many variables that a tenth or two up or down can easily happen. But I might give Track/launch control/wet a go. And sounds like the rims are junk. I smell class action!!

At Ron Fellows we were given the option to try launch control in all the modes and play around. Dry surface and Track - Wet have nearly Everyone the fastest time. Elevation has an effect. The school is up at 2,697 which slows the times

because this is the first generation with dual clutch it is not best to brake while excelarating but pull in your paddles to achieve the same.

It's possible that you got your best times on the final run on both days due to the tires warming up progressively with each run.

Thanks for all the info, Bob. I reached1500 miles and ready to do some 0-60s. Is mode selection for Z51 the same for non-Z51 C8s? Also, will you be doing a "paddles back launch" ... like old days dumping the clutch?

No, I am not doing a paddle dump. I cannot imagine it beating launch control. But, let us know if you try a few. I've found that the 0-60 times can vary a bit. Better data probably would be with some 1/4 mile times using launch control and paddle dumps. That would be interesting to see.

Got mine from Vettestripes.com. Excellent company and customer service. Great selection of stripes and colors. Material is better quality than factory. Wife and I put them on ourselves. Take your time and it's not that difficult. Two people also helps.

Hey Bob, I have a friend with your color C8 only with light grey int.He told me the other day his dealer offered him what he paid for the car on an order for a 2022 Z06. Wow, you are the 1st one to notice that cop car. My wife was busy shutting off the camera and never noticed the police car. I get no help!!! The new and soon to be announced C8 Z06 has not been shown yet. GM is not accepting orders yet. You can get on a list but that's about it.

Just wondering about the mode you are in at the beginning of the video. You say you are in "track mode" but the display looks like "sport mode." Just wondering.

Good question. I'm in track mode. And when you hit the PTM button twice (looks like a car laying down some rubber) you are offered 5 selections on the right side of the driver display. They are wet, dry, sport 1, sport 2, and race. I did 3 runs. One in sport 1, a second one in sport 2, and the 3rd in race. It can be a bit confusing till you see it yourself. Hope you get your new C8 soon. It is a blast!!

In track mode and in race mode (with every driving aides off) How many times have you tried that? With stability off and doing launch control, any danger that the car will go side ways or it didn't feel that way at all and is pretty safe?

Unless you've been to a few driving schools, I'd leave the driving aids on. You'll probably go slower with them off.

Better than I could do. Best I had was 3.3 sec. in my 2017 Z06. But still not the 2.8 that the "underpowered" C8 can do with about 150 hp less.

I thought track mode was a different looking screen.. Didn't think it had a circular tachometer... I thought it was a flat horizontal line?

Track mode does have a different screen. BUT you can go to the right side of your steering wheel, push the left and right buttons, that are on either side of the "roller". Under options you can select which screen you want. I happen to like the sport mode screen, so that's the screen I see, even if I go into track mode. When you get to the one you want, push in on the roller to select. Nice little option. Good question too!!

Hi Robert. Just an FYI, you're NOT in track mode. You were in Sport mode. Turn the dial to the right 1 more click. That's Track mode.

Mick, Track mode has 5 sub-modes. One is Sport 1 and another is Sport 2. You might have seem the "sport" and thought I was in sport mode.
