Launch of Star Trek: Voyager, hosted by Majel Barrett Roddenberry. Part 1 of 4. This Sci Fi Channel special was aired on January 12, 1995, just before the premier of Star Trek: Voyager, and takes a short, behind-the-scenes look at the new series. Interviewees include Voyager castmembers Kate Mulgrew, Robert Beltran, Roxann Biggs-Dawson, Jennifer Lien, Robert Duncan McNeil, Ethan Phillips, Tim Russ, and Garrett Wang; producer/creator Michael Piller; writer/producer Jeri Taylor; supervising producer David Livingston; makeup department head Michael Westmore; makeup artist Gil Mosco; and costume designer Robert Blackman.
Interesting how in Part 2, Voyager's holographic doctor was referred to as "Doctor Zimmerman", even though the character was never actually given a name throughout the entire series.

This is wonderful. And no one could've played the part any better than Kate. She should've at least been nominated for an Emmy for her performance. The wasn't popular enough, but it had the talent.

It was an amazing show. I dint know what you are talking about. They did an amazing job and I'm so glad to have a woman in the captains seat! Kate mulgrew did such a great performance. Was having a woman captain at the helm too much for you?

Deep Space Nine saw the first African-American captain in Sisko (who promoted to Captain at the end of its third season), and Voyager continued on Star Trek's firsts by having the first female captain in Janeway.
