Met Laura a couple months ago, probably the nicest, most down to earth musician I've ever met.

i havent seen this video until now and im sobbing, this woman and her band's music saved my life when I was a 15 year old trans kid, at a time where I was struggling to find friends and the COVID-19 pandemic was just right around the corner. The worst and darkest point in my life was then when I didn't understand my identity and was so, so scared of being who I was, but Against Me!'s music was there for me. and now, a few days away from 20 years old, with a career to look forward to, my transition well underway and a loving understanding support system, I can confidently say that Laura Jane Grace is the reason I am still here today, she is a role model and seeing her, her success, and most importantly her happiness, makes me sure of the fact that I can have that happiness too, that I deserve it. Thank you Laura, you deserve this more than anyone.

Well, damn. Wasn't expecting to cry today. Her music literally changed, and quite possibly saved my life. And not as a transgender individual but just as a drug addled, messed up punk who lost someone dear to me. She truly helped me through some hard times and this is just great to see.

I love how Laura's just "lurking" behind the column 'til it's her time. And the lyrics name dropped by the Mayor. "What God doesn't give to to you, you have to go and get for yourself" Aroha i to mahi. 🤘🤙❤️

Well deserved LJG! I've never been to Gainseville but some pretty effing amazing music has come outta that place. It is difficult for the majority of us to understand truly what it means to have gender dysphoria. We don't know the experience, the feeling. Thank you for adding a sliver of understanding. Remember that we love you for who you are and the amazing music you've brought to our lives. Never stop living your best life.

It’s weird this is a situation most people would be happy for but there is only emptiness and a person performing the expected joy.

Well, that's not what I expected from Florida, and more specifically Gainesville. I still have zero interest in visiting that state, but for once a story about something that took place in Florida doesn't begin with the punchline to a joke.

Being ‘transgender’ was always more acceptable than “punk rock”.

@@gregoryhauserman1290 accepted by who? I don’t think punk rock was ever considered a mental illness

@@SteamPunkCatt no, it was considered a terrorist organization which considered John G Money a scientist and take your pick from the hat of however bands or members met designated combatant statuses, versus the sex therapies considered “progressive” three decades earlier.
