I just turned 65 and have always kept an ear opened for new music. I've been listening to Laura since "I Speak... and am so impressed in her progression, much like Kate Bush through the 70's and 80's; I even love the side-trip with LUMP. I hope she never stops; 4 years was too long.

This! Just brilliant. What a songwriter to have a lyric that goes "la la la la la la la la la la la, something, something, Caroline" and means so much in the arc of the song. Genius!

I've listened to the new album in its entirety while walking in the mountains near my house. An experience I highly recommand. Patterns in Repeat fits so perfectly with fall's moody atmosphere. It's a beautiful opus.

I don’t like to compare, because I feel that Laura’s music is beyond compare, but I’m so pleased to hear Leonard Cohen’s influence through her music

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Yes, there's Cohen and Dylan, and she reflects Mitchell as well. But I'm not as thrilled with her voice like I was Joni, Leonard, or Dylan. This song the voice really works tho bc the story is exactly like what Cohen would sing. And the melody is classic early Cohen. She knows.

This is such a great song. I honestly thought it was a cover of a Paul Simon song. High praise indeed.

My wife's name is Karolina, she turned 40 years old today on 10-24-24 and I seen this song 24 minutes after you released the video. The words are crazy. The universe aligned.

My mother's name is Caroline, and for a series of events that happened in my childhood, I'm estranged from her now. And, man, does this song hit a chord. The older I get the more I see parts of her in myself, and it breaks my heart. It's so hard to love and miss someone this much, but know it's better off with the distance. Love you mum.

Wonderful song. I think it's fair to say that she was heavily influenced here by the beautiful Tom Waits song Martha released in 1973.

It appears to be about a man who has received a telephone call from an old flame called Caroline. His life has moved on (he's married, has kids etc) but he still remembers her and, partially, perhaps a song related to her. This call has unearthed a lot of emotions for him but ultimately he doesn't want any more contact from Caroline. It's a beautiful song.
@RowanneSmileАй бұрын
The song forgotten is like a metaphor for her as a person. The knowing of who she was has faded over time like a song, I think! It's beautiful.
