It was so touching to hear how Ankela loved and appreciated all of her sons and their differences and what a gentle loving approach she had in raising them. I am not surprised at all that they all chose to return to live in the community. As someone raised with very little culture and no religion in a mainstream western community I can only imagine the comfort, peace and sense of belonging you must experience growing up and growing old in your community. Love to you both from Australia ❤

That was lovely, thank you. We do not listen to the wisdom of older people enough. I haven't had 9, only 5 children but it is certainly hard work and very rewarding. On the question of schools it is so difficult for most people as teachers often have very different views from parents in the UK and although home schooling is allowed it is not so easy to do if you both work (unlike in Germany by the way where I believe it is against the law)

She, as you, are both amazing fonts of calm and dependable wisdom which we thank both of you so much for sharing with us. I especially enjoyed your trademark laughter when Ankela spoke of how fortunate it was that the boys had come “one at a time.” Ankela is a remarkable woman, as are you! @@LaurafromtheBruderhof. Your grandmother is so well spoken! I had a grandmother until I was 52, and she was well spoken, too. There was something about the turn-of-phrase used to weave a story in those times. It was elegant. Also, like your grandmother, mine had to stop school after 8th grade because the local high school closed and she had no transportation to the distant high school. But she was a life-long learner! She lived to be 98. I calculate your grandmother is about 80, is that right? Enjoy every minute with her.

Hi Ruth, Good question. We do not believe in divorce and remarriage, based on Jesus’s teachings. I made a video about marriage a few years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2HPnmaPhauEnrM
@Noone-rt6pw2 жыл бұрын
Can you have your own books, DVDs and such? Or do they go to a mutual library? I ask as there's this video from 3 months ago, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnqTeWSElKusoa8. Then so I can get a clearer picture of how Bruderhoff are. If you'd be so kind. You know Davie Crockett wouldn't put up with a woman usurping his authority. He'd simply pack.up an leave, like going to the Alamo. Which he might should have chose another battle.😂
@charmainex25982 жыл бұрын
I regularly visit a bruderhof community in England and there is a library there which has access to lots of different books, also the school has a library for children. If there is something that you wish to read that isn’t available then you can ask the person in charge of buying things and then most people would give it to someone when they are finished with it or donate it to the library. Of course people also get gifted a book which may mean a lot to them and so they may keep it in their collection. Also I don’t think there is a super short time limit on borrowing books but I may be wrong on that. Any other questions that Laura isn’t quick to answer I can give it a go :)

That should be an easy enough wish, there may even be a river cruise. That wish totally makes sense knowing her story, once you’re connected to wind and water it’s something that holds onto you and the longing remains to get back to it. There’s just just something of an ultimate freedom about that calm force of nature that shakes one up a bit without losing your focus along the route. My mom and I somewhat recently had that conversation after visiting my first church, that was very much like your Ankela raised the children in faith, if I would have remained in the faith I grew up with if we stayed there. It’s this very practical priest with a rescue farm behind the church he still takes care of at around 85 and a vivid experience of faith in deeds, there’s a social eco farm, a farm shop, a thrift store and a home for people that need it that are part of that community. He said something very wise once faith is a lot about how you reach out to people in their lives and love and I really stuck with that part of the faith my entire life. And the Bruderhof seems very much about the pure idea of faith and reaching out to the individual being building a community that way.
