They key to not crying when cutting onions is to not form an emotional attachment. Onions are food, not friends.

Bouya! So simple. This is how we dwn sth has always done this. Some ppl use eggs to make them even crisper but the eggs messes up the oil and I like to reuse my oil bc u can.

I ate some french fried onion rings years ago at a restaurant in Myrtle Beach while on vacation. Best I had ever eaten. Ever since then I wanted to duplicate the recipe. Laura has done it. Even the thin slices.

I made her green been casserole and these onions and they've been a hit at my house for Thanksgiving! Delicious!!! ❤

My mom-in-law gave me a tip when slicing onions. Wet some paper towel and have it on the cutting board, the chemical released by the onions will seek something wet so it goes to the wet paper towels instead of going to the eyes. I did this last night and did not shed any tear when I sliced a whole onion. Try it!

I tried these over the weekend. I just started with 1 onion and then could not stop there. I marinated another 1/2 KG onions and it was just finished them between me and my husband. Thanks for the best onion strings recepie.

I am from New England originally but now live in the south. I don’t know what it is about the south but they like thick and I mean THICK onion rings. I grew up on THIN onion rings ! Thanks SO MUCH for this recipe ! I’m super sorry you cut yourself on the Mandelin. I just bought one and will be careful because I already cut my left index finger on my quilting rotary cutter. I quilt as well as this new hobby of REALLY cooking from scratch partly thanks to you. I cooked before but nothing like this. Anyway, I’m anxious to try these THIN onion rings !

watched this video 20 minutes ago and have been unable to focus on homework as now I am CRAVING THESE. I will literally eat these like I eat potato chips. Too bad it's too late to bust out the deep fryer.
@malloryg42519 жыл бұрын
Very simple recipe, but incredibly delicious!! As she mentions in the video, it is VERY important to dust off the excess flour from your onions. If you get too much flour in the oil, it will burn straight away and make the onions taste acrid. Your best best is to flour all of the onions before frying, then put them in a sieve to remove the excess. If you don't have a deep fat fryer, a cast iron skillet is ideal for frying because it maintains the temperature well. Enjoy!

I was taught to use special onions, slice thin, dip in butter milk, fine grain corn flower & deep fry till crispy in oil. Oil choices are peanut or ?? Have not done it in 20 yrs! Learned from hamber joint that truckers diverted their trave to this place in CT called Deep 6. Was on Rt 6 in Farminton CT area. Bristol CT
