I live in a small 1950's house, the bathrooms are very small. Most times there's only one bathroom in the house. We had to add one. I'm amazed by how large the bathrooms were in the 20's ! I would love a large bathroom !

I know! I love the 1920s style

They were large because it was a new thing to have indoor plumbing. So bathrooms were created in unused bedrooms, alcoves, etc. Up until the 20s very few homes had inside plumbing.

I'm a Real Estate Agent in Memphis and we still have in the Midtown area, houses built in the 1920's. I've seen so many of the pale pink amd sea foam green bathrooms and pedestal sinks. Love hearing the background of this era!

Those bathrooms are works of art. My maternal grandma was born in 1918 and had older female relatives that she described as flappers. She had childhood memories of them wearing Tangee rouge, and more than likely the lipstick too. I love the the pictures of the old products. I love your bedroom Laura, you are so blessed. Thanks for the video. 💕🛁🧼💄

This is wonderful! I still use “Camay” soap and my husband uses “Ivory.” In the 1970’s I was fortunate to live in a Hollywood apartment that was built in 1923. It had the original mint green and black bathroom tiles and the entire building had been “updated” true to the original design. It was down the street from Schwab’s original pharmacy and across the street from the infamous “Garden of Allah” hotel. I loved living there. I have always been a huge fan of the Art Deco movement and still collect decor, perfume, and cosmetics from that marvelous era. Thank you for this lovely homage to perhaps the greatest decade in the world of style!

I loved this video, Laura! Very interesting. Important to remember though, these were the homes of wealthy people. I don't think the usual household had bathrooms like these. Many didn't even have a sink with running water in the 20s.

Ohh the Wrigley Mansion. I went to High School in AZ; we had our Senior Prom there. I believe it was built in the tail end of the 20s-- '29, I think. I don't remember too much about the restrooms, unfortunately, but if the staircase and the ceilings.. Wow. Just wow. They give tours if anyone ever finds themselves visiting AZ :)

I love learning about what toiletries people used in the past. I would be curious to see what was in the typical 1970s bathroom; probably some of the same things I saw growing up in my parents' bathroom in the 80s (my parents almost never threw anything away until it was completely finished up, even makeup, so a lot of products from the 70s were still in use in our household!).

The home decor that they had back then had much more character than the stuff they have today. Hopefully, there will be nicer things introduced as the 21st century progresses. In the meantime, I'd like to nominate the 1960s for a video.
