Hi Laura, thank you so much for posting videos! I've learn so much with them and they have helped me to be better at cakes.... I made your bow and the tapit letters tip was great! So I was just wondering when you do this doesn't the fondant crack up on you? Any tip if that happens? Kind regadrs from Panama!

Hi Nieves! You are very welcome! So glad you like our videos and you feel they have helped you. That's awesome! I would highly recommend not using fondant. Rather, use gumpaste instead to avoid your cracking. :)

Hi Laura and Arnie - first off, you guys rock. Secondly, how thick are you rolling out the fondant to make the skirt? And do you have any tips on preventing elephant skin due to high humidity? I live in Houston and it’s usually 70% humidity and it’s not even raining!!
@krazykoolcakes6 жыл бұрын
Hi Marjory! Thank you so much! I roll it out to 1/8th of an inch. Elephant skin is usually due to dryness and not humidity. Usually elephant skin happens when people make the mistake of using shortening on their hands when working with fondant. If you're not using shortening, then if your fondant is TOO soft, make sure to sprinkle a tiny bit of cornstarch into it and knead to dry it out a bit. I hope that helps! :)

Besos Genia!!!!!
@krazykoolcakes10 жыл бұрын
Gracias! :)
@rominabronstein914710 жыл бұрын

I love it!!! You said that the cake was straight from the fridge... My questions is when I try to fondant my cake from the fridge it bubbles on the sides. Why is that? Oh I forgot to mention that I'm learning how to work with fondant and I have to thank you....I live your work! Please help me!
@krazykoolcakes10 жыл бұрын
Thank you Daisey! Yes, straight out of the fridge. I believe that any little bubbles you get between your fondant and icing right after covering in fondant, might be due to just trapped air while you were covering in fondant. Try smearing a tiny bit of shortening all around your iced cake before you cover in fondant to make sure all the fondant is stuck and that way you don't trap air. :) Hope that helps! :)

Seems like your cutting and measuring process is long and tedious. Would you think that a pin/skewer with a thread tied to it and something to score the fondant would be a faster way to get your circle? Then there is no measuring all the way around and you already have your center marked. Great tutorials though. I have learned so many little tricks from you two.
