That's cool! I am deaf in the left ear and my inner ear bones were replaced in '02. Then they shifted and I haven't heard since. I have a cheap pair just now and can almost make out some music with them. It's exciting to have that much. I like this KZbinr, who made the video.

Being only half deaf in one ear and total in the other most of my life, I can have a good taste of the life changing experience and contrast that must have been for you and many others. I find it fascinating to think about. Like if I read it in a book and try to imagine how to describe it. It makes me think in a way I enjoy. I'm getting them and look forward to the difference of my current cheap ones and the premium brand.

Wow I never considered this. I’m half deaf in one ear and stereo mixes always bugged me, drums and bass in my good ear while guitar was in my bad ear. Can’t wait to try.

This technology has been around for a while. I climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 2000; the group climbs single file while attached to rail. Therefore, so everyone could hear the tour guide, we had these same head phones. I found it so intriguing at the time, I’m surprised they’re not more common. Thanks for this review LT🙏

I've been using the Aeropex (now OpenRun) for two years now and absolutely love them, they are one of the best pieces of running kit I own. I am old (74) and living in Japan. I walk daily along the beach where I live and hate missing parts of conversations with my fellow walkers. I t ried bone headsets when they first came out and was not impressed. I recently met a Shokz user who slammed these things on my head and cranked the volume! Loved it! I then searched reviews after the purchase and yours was the best. Thank you!

I love, love, love, love these headphones. I had the Trekz Titanium for 5-6 years and finally they developed a crack near the ear that was a bit painful. I picked up the Aeropex and they are so much more comfortable than even the old Titanium. The battery lasts what seems like FOREVER. I love that I can still hear traffic while running. I even wear them while doing chores around the house.

I've had the same experience. I've worn them daily for at least 5 - 6 years, starting, as you, with the Titanium. I've had 4 pair. 1 lost, One broken , as yours' but still works and my back-up. I've demo'd them more times than I can count. Shocx probably owes me commission. ;) Love them.

They have a miracle fast charge. Get home with them at 0%, charge for 15 minutes and I’m good to go until I go to bed 4 hours later.

I'm a drywaller/ painter and trail runner. I've worn those for about 5 years at work and trail. Love them. And, if I'm working in a really loud environment (power drills, hammering etc) , I put ear plugs in. Then I can turn the volume way down. Love them

Great review. Used the Aeropex for several months. Used to always use in ear but due to sweating heavily when exercising I had problems with ear infections. Moving to these I’ve had no more issues. Used to want to block out all external sounds but this is a small compromise to stop having the ear issues.

Same reason why I am considering these, and researching "bone induction" types of earbuds. I am getting over my first ever ear infection as an adult (50s here), and never had one before. I attribute it now to my in-the-ear earbuds (which I struggled to remember to disinfect regularly)... so I am excited to try these instead!

I've had mine since Christmas 2021, a gift from my husband. Took a few days. First had a foreign language. Took a few days to find English. I've had them attached to my phone and tablet. Just got a new phone. Could not remember how to pair them. Found your video. The best one I found. Only took a few minutes.

I bought a pair yesterday. Have them on now for the 1st time. I LOVE these headphones. I hate putting anything in my ear. Gotta try them with some music. Standby…WOW! Music sounds REALLY GOOD! I love these!

I agree completely with this review. The only downside I found was that it is opposite of noise canceling. Excellent for my road bike rides (gives full awareness of the environment) but completely useless in a noisy environment

Listening in the office and other social settings is also ideal, you can make your own personal life soundtrack. When I am at home, I have a pair of autistic reference headphones.

Meant to ask, did you look at the Mini? Although I normally take a Large (or XL!) size hat, the measurement from ear to ear as per the size guide was just under 9 inches, so it seems the Mini would fit me better ... I was just wondering, as you commented that your head is small. ;-)

Great review. I've had these for about five years and just got a second pair so I never have to worry about a charge. 13+ hours per charge is 5 more hours than specs which is nice. P.S. work great for drowning out noise with putting a pillow or covers over your ears, comfortable, if you happen to have noisy roomates, and need to sleep for night shift, etc...

For times when you don't want to hear outside sound, I've found that if you wear earplugs along with your Shokz, they cancel the ambient noise and isolate the bone condensed audio. This way, you still don't "need" to carry a whole other pair of headphones with you.

Love your presentation style, lack of waffle and attention to detail. Can see why you have so many subs. I believe the proprietary cable is also to stop water ingress which would happen via USB C. I love my Shockz, i have the Aeropex which came with two cables (shame they stopped that) but the fast charge looks great.

The OpenRun headphones work great for me while practicing oudoors sports and at the gym. Confortable tu use, they stay in place around my head and ears. I just enjoy the music and feel safe while riding my bycicle, running or in my kayak.

Yeah these are fantastic. I use them when cycling can feel very confident that I'm not myself in jeopardy although I would recommend sticking with audio books or podcasts rather than music since sometimes the music can sometimes blend with the sounds of the road.

Aloha Laura and bone-phoneRS, Great Review Laura! I got the Open Run on sale yesterday $100 + tax at a big warehouse store in the US. I love the first pair in Navy so much that I bought a second pair three hours later. I am really impressed/amazed with these as a first time user. Background: I have two pairs of the original Air Pods that I usually wear in one ear, as I like to be able to hear other sounds around me. I got a wireless Jabra which allows outside sounds in. However I don't enjoy fidgeting with wireless ear buds that you worry about loosing or falling out of your ear. These Open Runs sound great, fit well with a hat and glasses and are lightweight. They have all the controls you need. The bone transducer design creates and amazing good enough sound. I listen to mostly instrumental jazz music, but also vocals and podcasts. I like being able to hear around me on a walk outdoors with this comfortable headset. Battery life has been amazing on the first charge. I got the second headset (unopened) in case the battery life and use of the first one is short. So far,I may not need a second (but at least there is a second power cable in that one as back up). Will see in the next month if I really need the second set. I really love the sound and fit and being able to hear other sounds. I find I really do not have to punch up the volume at all...works for me (and others cannot hear the Stereo sound while I can converse with them...Wow scary 😅 ). I am a believer in these type of headphones. You fit and use may vary. Give it a try. Once your find your Cinderella of Headphones like I did, She is a Keeper. Thanks again for the great video.

I must say you had my attention right from the start. I liked the hat, helmet, glasses part a lot. Or the exact time measurements. This review is really a high quality material. Thank you. Hey from Arizona, USA Laura. I'm a cyclist, an an Audio guy for 40+ years. Hate plugs and my ears are too big for airpods, I saw another cyclist wearing this, now that I've watched your video, I'm on the way to the store to pick them up. I hope that my giant head allows them to fit. Some times the "one size fits all" - doesn't. Hah.. And, I'm with you. Nothing is a game changer until we are all living on Mars, right? The "not blocking background noise" is a positive feature. This is made literally for "SAFE" Outside Activities. You can use "Over-ear" headphones if you want noise reduction instead.

Shokz OpenRun are a game changer. I have never liked ear buds, they never stay in the start hurting after an hour, never fit right after trying dozens of brands. Shokz are so comfortable I wear them all day they keep a charge and sometime forget I have them on until someone calls me. If you want the FULL music experience put in some foam ear plugs the bass will jump 3X and highs are clearer (I only do this around the house).

Have just bought a set of openrun and am impressed. They seem to get louder if you put those rolling type in ear plugs so might actually be ok on flights with lots of background noise. Yet to test this though.

I have just bought a pair. Really looking forward to my first run in them. I have a bit of tinnitus and thought the same. Sound quality is a step down from my in ear sports headphones, but I think the benefits will outweigh any sound issues.

I liked the fact that I didnt have to put any thing in my ears however there are times like cutting grass with a gas mower or being close to alot of noise i couldnt use them. I ran into another fan of openrun and he told me he uses earplugs around loud noise because of the bone conduction they work! Just tried it out you can put in eaeplugs and listen to them the sound is muffled but you can use them they work.

Ah I love the concept of these headphones and bought a pair myself 6 months ago, but I actually returned them straight away because I found the sounds quality was so poor. I could hardly hear the music at all! I've seen so many positive reviews of the sound quality this makes me wonder if I was wearing the correctly... Or maybe bone density is a factor? 😅 Anyway - thank you for continuing to make these videos Laura, I love seeing what challenges you're up to!
