Hey Laura. Here’s an idea for a video series. Build your backyard cabin yourself!! Start with the dream, design and draw it up. Then just start with the foundation and build up. It can’t be much harder than some of the other things you have done already and believe me you will get viewers by the millions. The bonus part is you will have your little retreat at the end!

The British have very different building codes than the Americans that’s for sure. We use a 2x4 stud wall design using a lot of wood while the British use more brick, at least in the areas that I have visited. This would definitely be a “series of videos “.

Well... I just clicked your video with the intention to skip through and see roughly what's been going on with your channel. But then I just finished watching the video with a 100% retention rate! Your presentation style is unique, and I appreciate the way it conveys honesty and "realness" in a world that sometime lacks such things. Cant wait to see the desert island production sometime in the next 24 months! I feel the KZbin algorithm is great at bringing the right people to your videos, and when you pivot topics or take time off, a drop would be expected, but then the core fans stick with you and you can go on to create what YOU want as long as you have the patience to wait for the financial part. I suspect the island video will be another hit, but don't let that pressure keep you from diving into it. If you make a video about it and are not 100% happy with it, for a project like that you could probably get away with a second edit of the same experience a few months later if you really wanted another go. Keep up the good work!

I felt really lonely after moving out of my mum's at 33 too 😓 I'd moved back in with them at the start of the pandemic and moved out after I got married. When we lived together, she was working from home, so every morning when I got up for work, I'd go into her office, say good morning and kiss her on the head. I've missed that a lot. There's also the thing of every time I go back, my parents look older and older. It's hard to deal with. BTW you've done phenomenally in your channel growth and output. I have a channel, Rumade, and started in 2021. Only have 900 subs and it's nothing like as consistent as yours :)

Interesting - this is the first video of yours I've ever seen. I quite like your laid back energy. I noticed that as you were talking your approach in dealing with negative people in an understanding and non-judgmental way was really classy and cool. Throughout the video you seem to just keep projecting or embracing a sense of optimism about the future coupled with a clear but not-too-negative view of the past and I find that to be quite appealing and for some reason, comforting. I will say that I found myself being quite judgy of some of your choices. I was saying things in my head like "oh sure, take off to a deserted island to make some silly pet project video, blow a bunch of money and never have anything in the end.....typical of anyone who sniffs a little bit of income." BUT I had to stop and say "Well at least you've done that and were earning money while doing it so that's not a big deal at all" AND I had to really look at WHY I thought those things. AND THIS is where things got really interesting for me. I found it interesting that I got quite judgy of you but then had to realize I haven't done anywhere close to even 1/20 of what you've already done. I've been procrastinating on some of my creative interests and my ideas seem to be all over the place and I often feel like I can't even focus enough to sit and watch a movie, let alone create anything new. But really what's been happening is I've allowed myself to be distracted because doing those creative things is new and sort of scary and makes me worried about "what if I could actually do some of these things and be really good at them?"....which seems totally mental because I really want to be good at some of these things. And that's where your laid by approach started to bring peace to this whole mindstorm. I thought "Hey hold on a sec - why keep with this judgy energy? Why not chill out, relax, let go of all that stuff and simply realize it's all going to be OK whether or not I do any of these things? Why not adopt this woman's energy and approach to these pursuits? Wouldn't that be a more comforting way? and I had to admit it would be. So thanks for representing that with very real world examples of your own journey. Anyways this turned out to be, quite unexpectedly, the exact video I needed to see this morning.....having gotten myself into quite a judgy mood by watching too many "How to do X, Y or Z" videos. Thanks for this. I'll subscribe right after I post this comment and look forward to learning more about you and your journey.

Hi Jont, well, I must say, what an incredible comment. I am quite taken back really, in a good way. I can relate to your 'judgy' ways. I do it too, I am sure most, if not all people do it. I think it's tricky in this modern wold with social media, seeing so many people so much stuff. It;s almost impossible not to be judgy so I appreciate your honesty and openness. And I totally get the 'How to do X' - too many of those style videos kill my creativity and energy. I would imagine it's doing that for you too? I thank you for your comment. There is a lot more I want to write but I get it. And it seems you may be getting me. It's so easy to judge but there are so many layers to us all, and it would be impossible for us to share it all. I'm waffling. It's good to have you here.

@@LauraTryUK Hey Laura - thanks for the reply and I'm glad you liked my comment. It's all true. I watched this video again and it's really incredible all the stuff you've already done and shared. I wasn't nearly as judgy this time, in fact not judgy at all. Not sure if it's because of better sleep last night or I know you've already done a lot. Regardless your laid back energy in this vid was awesome, yet again. With how crazy this life can get these days, it's nice to see some laid back, casual videos that help me relax. I don't live with my mom but I live less than 1 mile from her. We're super close and best friends so the fact that you're having such a good time with your mom is awesome and something I really can relate to. I did have to live with my mom, for like 2-3 months, as I was recovering from some health issues but I was SO grateful for my own place. I continue to struggle with wanting to spend time with her and wanting my own independence - it's never easy for either of us. I've been greatly helped by not listening to what others think we "should do" or "should not do" because in the end, it's our friendship and we get to work out how that looks. Anyways LOVED your vid on your process of how you make vids. Well done. Thanks for being so open about everything. You really demystify so much of the process and make it seem accessible. All the best.

It's hard to run a channel on top of real life. I'm the same as you in that I too have had to step back to deal with real world stuff such as taking a really complex accreditation involving lots of studying. I have been forced to stop doing videos whilst doing this and it's frustrating watching the stats dip but it's a juggling factor handling KZbin channels on top of all the stuff us people handle daily in real life. Good luck with the future.

So many things to tell about everything in this video, actually - the growth during the first year was evidently the process of attracting the target auditory, while the decrease in the growth rate clearly shows that the channel has reached its niche and holding quite stable - even taking into consideration the fact that no videos were uploaded for 5 months or so - the approach of "doing viral videos - implementing my personal ideas" is just like walking in the dark with other people around, when you partially listen to what others say, but simultaneously and carefully touching the objects around you to find the one you need/ it may be just a matter of balance between the two types of activities, there is no need for radical decisions. In other words, it is sometimes useful to follow the routes discovered and examined by others, and sometimes its good to discover the routes by yourself - if you choose this lifestyle as your job, it has to be followed by a certain attitude (not always the objective of the job is pleasant and desirable, but you need to do it) - anyways, still wishing you luck and patience, stay true, stay strong

I just like to say, I really enjoyed the Rubik’s cube, Typing Speed and Speed reading videos! I don’t know if any of this would be helpful, but here are a few video ideas that I think might be a good fit for you - What advice would you give your younger self (age 21, 31) ahead of your 41st birthday? What differences are there between Male and Female KZbinrs - what are the different challenges? Does the algorithm treat you differently? (I don’t know for certain but I feel like men and women follow male you tubers, but not as many men follow female you tubers even though their content might be similar). A long term follow up on your having taken the Matt D’Avella KZbin course - any longer term reflections about its value, and an indication of additional courses or resources you needed to skill-up from that introductory level course. Maybe an interview with your mum about how she sees your YouTubing career. What health or fitness skills or practices you have learnt (for KZbin or before) that you have since abandoned and why?… I’m sure some more might come to be, but I hope some of these might be helpful. Keep up the good work, seeing a new video from you in my feed always makes me smile!

I have to pause the video for a bit, cause there's something on my mind. First thanks a lot for your honesty in this video and also thanks a lot for videos like the speed reading!, I enjoy that content tremendously! But I'm also in my early 40ies, female and learning new things is what drives me. But, I have an idea for a future video. I'm a biochemist and got into fasting and keto through research and what I'm always missing with all those viral fasting videos is the 'what happens one week after the fast, what happens one month after'. Cause you gain the weight back, your body composition changes again. The benefit isn't the weight loss, which I think most people click the videos for, the benefit is the hormonal balance, the inflammation rate going down. That's what is beneficial even years after a fast. But it's never addressed in those kinds of videos and I feel like more people should know about that. Thanks again for your channel, good morning from Berlin :)

I really enjoy your videos, and i believe your growth will pick up again, because you still have vigour and inspiration, that is so key. I've had a similar experience to you with my youtube channel. I was making good money from viral style videos a couple of years ago, but i got burnt out and lost interest in making that kind of content. Now i'm focusing on other passions and possible career paths, and i'm taking a month off KZbin this May so devote more time to those things. It's certainly scary when youtube earnings decrease, but its also so unpredictable. I am just now seeing this and I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. First, I LOVE the path your channel has taken with the type of videos since this, ie Huberman daily routine, Truffle retreat, & the Celery Juice video come to mind. I initally found you with the 7 day water fast video, and I never actually aligned with your (or anyones for that matter) fitness challenge or related videos. I just wanted to provide this perspective as I assume many others beyone just myself are more so into health, wellness, biohacking etc, and not necessarily excercise and even less excercise challenges. Many of the excercise challenges are out of reach for me and actually cause me to feel uninspired and not so great about myself. Whereas water fasting, morning routines, juice cleanses are definitely something I can accomplish. The channel Skylife comes to mind as another example of a channel that does this well. I love how much authenticity and transparency you bring to all of your videos but in this one specifically with your income. What I will say is I am shocked, I would expect someone with your following to be making much more. To be frank I am going provide some unsolicited advice, out of love, and only because I want you to have more resources to happily continue to make content. You have inspired me, and many others to try new things, and improve myself, and deliver it in a beautiful way, the internet needs to be filled with more positive impact like what you offer. First with sponsorships (I am surprised to not have noticed any in your videos) the channel Kelly Stamps (although a completely different niche from yours) has videos discussing very transparently about how to navigate this and encouragement on how to not undervalue what you offer, her channel is also fascinating to study due to its quick virality without the typical crazy thumbnails, outlandish numbers, quick cut editing styles. I am not saying that you feel this way, but I know so many YTers used to feel weird about sponsorships but now they are mentioned in virtually every channel or podcast with any sort of following, its so normal. Second is products, while I can tell you put a ton of thought into editing, story telling, filming etc, a little bit of additional research related to products could really pay off for you in the form of finances. I see some videos that don't have products included that easily could, and others where there could be a more beneficial product to include. For instance in your celery juicing video a huge opportunity was missed to partner with Nama Well. While they are an investment, they have a cult like following (similar to a Vitamix in blenders) for their Nama J2 and now J3 juicer. In fact the channel Kristina Raw has millions of subscribers mostly from juicing & Nama juicer content, another that comes to mind is thejenjones on TT, who got most of her followers from the Nama fandom. You could have gotten the best of the best juicer, made some coin, and been able to offer a $50 off coupon code to your followers. This is just one example of all the products that are in your videos. Literally after EVERY product I personally would mention that the link is in the description and even again when the product is featured for the last time in the video, yes you may sound like a broken record, but if you don't mention it, people will open up a new tab to search for it to buy it, not knowing the link is already right there. Again I am not saying you feel this way, but I know some creators feel pushy constantly saying link in description, but the reality is people want to buy stuff, Amazon wouldn't be successful if they didn't, they want to buy good products that come with a recommendation from a trusted source, they absolutely will forget to navigate to your link without repetition, and lastly they want to support you! I hope all this helped, and is received with love & light, I know my inner consultant came out, and it wasn't asked for, but I truly do want to see you have the resources to continue to do things like your Desert Island challenge. So much love! 💕

I like you LT! I like the gimmicky videos because it's you. They are fun and funny! You are funny in them. How about both? Nothing is ever wasted. And there is nothing wrong with earning money. It's Friday is my favorite video! As you know, I go back and watch from time to time because it brings me joy! You elevate my joy and happiness! 😊

@04:10 You mum is amazing. 😊 I wonder if you'd thought about breaking up your desert Island video into two parts... you could end with a cliffhanger! It also might be easier to edit if you can do it in stages. Keep fighting on💪 . I really do like the mixture of fitness and mental challenges on your channel 😊

This is a brilliant video, thanks for sharing everything Laura. In case it helps... If you're still looking for a video editor, I know loads of professional TV video editors who are looking to get some side money from working with KZbin(rs) but don't know where to start(!)

Your decision to avoid the purely viral video path shows how much you truly care about your viewership to only share sustainable health tips and your inspirational story. You are becoming an inspiration to me and my social media presence. I agree that viral videos do not do the best job of creating a sustainable healthy mindset and even though I am slowly building an audience I know I am staying true to myself and what I want to contribute to the world. I just signed up to join your channel. I wish it could be more.

I saw your video, learning the splits at age 39, on my youtube suggestions yesterday. And I watched it then another video, then another one... Your energy, way of talking, your spirit makes one thinks that maybe I can do it too. your channel is a motivation coach for many people for sure! I'm in my mid 30s and desperate about my life. Seeing other people who have changed their life brings hope for myself. I wish I will find what I want for my life and enough strength to put it into practice.

Laura, somehow I stumbled across one of your videos and I haven’t been able to stop. It’s probably been three weeks. I love your channel. You’ve inspired me to start the Artist Way. I must say I’m slightly addicted to your channel the way you put a video together your earnestness and honesty. Please don’t stop making videos. Please continue doing what you’re doing. You are making a difference.❤

Howdy from chicago. I don’t know how I came across U. But I have enjoyed your videos. I didn’t realize I hadn’t subscribe till now. So I’m in. Much continued success. What I like about your videos is. U will do what it takes, I remember your cold submerge video where U clean out the trash bind. I never saw anyone do that. I admire your drive to get it done. Much continued success.

1. I’d like a series on the island- what you wanted/hoped- what happened- looking back. Maybe chunking down will make it more doable? 2. Stay true to your style while honestly evaluating your feedback. 3. New subscriber here I enjoy your content

You're a real pleasure to watch. I wish you continued success, whichever way you decide to grow your channel. You always make things interesting, even if the subjects are not always what I'd be looking for. I love how you put things together. So, yeah, keep searching - it will come. Look into and read up on the power of manifesting, and practice it in your quiet times - it works like a charm. The universe listens and provides and answers your prayers - just keep it on the positive. You'll know what I mean when you read about it, that is, if you do. I promise you, it's worked for me. And sometimes it's beyond belief. The best of luck to you!

I check your channel at least once a week just in case you have a new one that I somehow missed the alert. Your channel is without a doubt one of my absolute favorites which I think has to do with your personality and spirit, the several other channel favorites have that in common with you. You inspire me and I admire your guts and courage. Keep it up we love what you do. Looking forward to your next year !! :)

I like the idea of the inner work explorations especially trauma work, although obviously protect yourself since doing that kind of work can be very heavy. I ready about Somatic Therapy for trauma which sounds interesting. Thanks for being so open and honest about your journey, it's very interesting as I am exploring self employment myself and sometimes consider creating a KZbin channel.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, challenges, and lessons learned. I can relate to almost every word you spoke in this video. You are doing so many of the same things that I am, or plan / hope to (as soon as I can get the nerve). I also really struggle with the fact that I could likely make a lot more money, if only I were willing to sacrifice my values. It sometimes feels like I'm holding myself back, but if I make it all about the money, then I might as well just stick to my day job. Anyway, I really appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. And above all, I hope you know that your positive attitude (despite things not always going your way) is very inspirational.
