Lauren Bacall is still one of those women who make you wonder about the possibilities, but she also was a force to be reckoned with. I'd say she conquered her fears, and came full circle in her ambition for the stage, and that's no small potatoes. As a staunch New Yorker myself, I could relate to her insights. She was fascinating, distinctive, and a rare beauty. To have all that and talent too, makes her great.

Lauren Bacall-- what a truly amazing lady -- a Real Lady -- for I have never heard anything negative or disparaging about anyone come out of her mouth. She always sought the High Road...She believed in herself, in those she loved and in her craft, her work w/o wavering. She is a Gift and an Inspiration for us all. Bravo, Ms. Bacall, BRAVO! 💞

Uh... she is known for not treating people behind the scenes well, such as her hairdresser. I believe she also clashed with her children from time to time. I can imagine that it was "her way or the highway" in some situations.
@shihlin1
@shihlin1 2 жыл бұрын
@@cellom.9227 Bacall didn't get to become who she is by being nice and considerate to those around her. She was widowed at 33 with three children and suddenly had to make a living for her family. Not EZ in those times the 50's-60's. She had to develop a tough exterior to prevent from being taken advantage of in Hollywood. I'm sure men came onto and propositioned her after Bogey's death, she and Sinatra were practically engaged to get married (she thanks the heavens that didn't happen), she said it wouldn't have lasted anyway. Lauren Bacall is what we call the ultimate "tough cookie" and she's stepped on more than her share of toes.

@@sherrydrake9578 Yes, she did leave her 2 year old son behind for six months, but so did Bogie. Lauren paid her "mommie dues" when she stayed off the screen for three years (1950-1953) to be a mommie. I don't know why women are the ones who are always expected to give up such things as careers when they get married and have children. And what did Bogie give up?

@@shdz57 he suffered from esophageal cancer, not lung cancer. And cheating is inevitable. If you plan to be with someone for life, there will always be a point in time where infidelity will occur. The best you can hope for is that you and your partner can be mature enough to discuss an appropriate way of going about it. Just because you’re married and in love doesn’t mean you can’t have a fling every so often. I think it’s actually healthy if you do. Couples start to grow depressed and resentful if forced to stay 120% faithful for decades on end.

If I can be half the badass woman she was, I’ll be deliriously happy. I’m in the process of reinventing myself thanks to the opportunity of a divorce after 20 years of marriage and I have discovered a passion for acting. At almost 59, I don’t care who thinks it’s a crazy idea. And that sounds like something Lauren Bacall would say 😎. I thoroughly enjoyed this biography.

How sick that people cannot accept that some women have deep , low voices, like some men have higher pitched voices.This transgender/lesbian/gay, supposition about everyone dead or living, needs to stop.Focus on their talent, or something else. Hearing about their private affairs is sickening.

I get it. I'm gay but old fashioned. Its just as rude to assume sexual or gender identity in anyone dead or living. If you do not know someone just forget it, and if you do just be kind and respectful.

Love it! Yes! It’s the misogyny of people thinking women have to look a certain way to be considered valid and “feminine.” We all know she is truly one of a kind and far beyond capable than these judgmental people.
