Thank you Lauren Curtis for teaching me how to clean my brushes with something as cheap as dish soap! You saved me so much money! Eventually I will get a professional soap cleaner, maybe something like that bar of soap you showed... I thought that was nice. But for right now, Palmolive it is!

Guys, water is indeed a renewable resource. The problem is some areas of the world don't have either the knowledge or the equipment to clean and purify it. She isn't really wasting water, it will cycle back. I'm all for helping out the planet and being careful, but there is no need to be rude and hateful to get your point across. Instead of complaining about the water she wasted in this video donate money to charities that help to educate people on how to clean their water or will help to fund the equipment necessary for them to do so. I love that y'all care about the planet, but take that passion and use it in a loving manner instead of fighting on KZbin comments! Also, love ya Lauren! Thanks for the info.

Alright ladies let’s be honest, professional makeup brushes are an investment. And, like any other investment, we want a great return on that investment. To make sure that will happen you must take care of your brushes. People always forget this. The best thing you can do is get on a brush cleaning routine…AND DO IT REGULARLY. Also a tip that most people don't know is to make sure you clean your brushes after you purchase them but before you use them. Why? Because during production, they collect dust, dirt, debris and bacteria. For those that suffer with acne or have sensitive skin, you will greatly benefit from keeping your foundation brushes clean at all times. Reason? All that bacteria can cause break outs and when you have build up on your foundation/powder brushes it can cause your brushes to be rough and scratchy which will irritate the skin. The best thing for you to do is clean your foundation/powder brush after every use to assure you are taking the best care of your sensitive skin. I understand that is a big commitment, but once you get into a routine it will be easy as pie. If you’re one who never cleans your brushes think about all the old make-up and bacteria that builds up in your brush and then you go rubbing it on your face… um, gross!

I just deep cleaned my makeup brushes for the first time since I got them and I'm surprised how clean they came out especially my eye brushes as I wear a lot of dark makeup. Surprisingly the only brush I found that started to fray and shed a little bit was my powder brush and I don't have the guards however I did have a wrapper that fitted round it perfectly so hopefully that will keep it all in place thanks for the tips!!!

She really isn't wasting much water. If you've ever cleaned your make up brushes before you'll understand how time consuming and frustrating it is to keep turning the water on and off. As well as this it is important to wash your brushes in the most hygienic way possible - which is straight from the tap.

Michelle Phan uses those brush guards as well and a good tip she pointed out was that she leaves about 1/2 inches sticking out (if that makes sense) and that way she can actually have the brushes standing up when she puts them in a jar or a glass and that allowes gravity to pull all of the water out that is inside of your brusher, but that little puddle of water in the glass wont reach the brushes because of that 1/2 inch sticking out. I hope i'm making sense, I feel like I'm just rambling nonsense haha :)

If I have synthetic brushes I use straight alcohol *wipes* to clean them thoroughly. (Tricolsan in antibacterial products is not good for our bodies and no one on birth control hormones should use products containing Triclosan as it may alter the effectiveness [rendering them weaker in your system]- fyi.) With straight alcohol wipes, they come completely clean and not damaged I don't just wipe, I make sure to clean the entire brush well. Alcohol also evaporates pretty much immediately off the brush so it 'dries' fast. I would *not* use my method for natural brushes though as it would damage them.
