Interesting interview. I should introduce myself. I'm SisterLauren [the other one] a retired pot activist in the US. In 2003 I was a Girl Scout leader when one of my girls asked me why pot was illegal. I had no idea so I looked it up, what I discovered horrified me. Sane people when confronted with that much pure evil at the highest political levels just submit to it in a sad form of collective helplessness. But I'm not most people, I'm a trained Girl Scout leader. So I spent months coming up with a big political action plan to defeat "them." After I dreamed it up, I felt completely obligated to give it my very best Girl Scout try. I even tried to run for congress, three times. I chose to call myself Sister Lauren online because I'm a sister to every other Girl Scout and Girl Guide all around the world. That is a lot of sisters. A few years ago someone asked me if I was you, obviously I am not. I have had LOTS of successes. My first big political success was getting the Tea Party to support Ron Paul for president. The press had NO idea where his support suddenly came from, but I sure did. I had organized it. I did a whole lot of things. I had a big agenda with lots and lots of moving parts. I called it my return of Jesus project. I spent about a year talking the BDS protestors into becoming the BDS movement and I had a hand in the Arab Green Spring. Occupy Wall Street was my baby, it never would have happened without me. Then the oil pipeline protests. I can remember exactly when that happened. Some Native American woman was dressing me down for not doing enough, so I responded with a big list of my successes and the message that she needed to get off her butt and do it herself if she wanted to see it happen. Four days later it did, their protest started up and I knew that my comment had landed. I was not involved in BLM, I'm not black. I possess a lot of white privilege. My goal was to teach people how to do activism and to encourage them to do it themselves, so I was very pleased to see BLM happen without any of my help. I officially retired after the MeToo movement because I thought it had achieved my goal. Ever since then I have been watching things closely to see if it will work out as I planned 20 years ago, or not. I can't control other people. I can only give them ideas, strategies, encouragement and my visionary plans. After that they have to do it themselves.

Call for Direct Democracy: Government by People's Referenda. Encamp the Capitals until it is done, or run mascot parties and candidates. March every Oct 14. Palestine will be free!

Govt by People's Referenda: Peaceful Occupation of our Capitals until it's installed, or run Mascot Candidates Single Issue Referendums with thresholds and a social contract means Communities can vote their own laws. A Public Authority can audit police and prosecute bad cops in our own courts. Nationalise resources and give Indigenous peoples the right of Sovereignty over them as Guardians. This can be achieved through a General Strike or Velvet Revolution, much like the Occupy movement, peacefully occupying State Buildings until a People's Mandate can be implemented. With the appropriate checks and balances, you could have a national digital forum where qualified professionals can debate the issues in a public setting without all the disinformation and bad faith antics, hatespeech etc. Any vote would need to pass the 70% threshold, with a veto or _rewrite_ vote needing 30%. The issues would be debated, the public educated, and then a vote taken. Votes that fail will have to wait a year before trying again. Any new proposal (Citizen Initiated Referendum) would have to reach a threshold of support before it made it onto the register. This would be subject to a Social Contract (New Constitution) that forbids human rights abuses and discrimination. That can be written in the same manner based on the core principles we all share. Councils and Boards could operate in the same fashion at Scale. It works in a way that obligates people to better educate themselves ( that is to use logic and evidence in their reasoning ) for a better understanding of the issues, and then take collective responsibility for the outcomes. As opposed to the divisive US v them scapegoating and bi-partisan finger pointing the current Capitalist Pyramid Scheme runs on. Enough is enough We need Government by People's Referenda, either through Mascot Candidates or Peaceful Occupation of the Capitals until one is established. Make it an annual event on Oct 14

I love listening to your thoughts and ideas. I have been teaching teenagers for 38 years and have seen the evolution of young people since the 80s. Despite their much more cynical vision of the world, they still respond to kindness and will imitate behaviors if given half a chance. Because of health issues, I cannot go out as an activist in the streets, but in my own quiet way I try to soften the hearts and listen to the voices of my students and younger colleagues. I hope that perhaps I can change hearts one at a time. Thank you for your many words of wisdom and your willingness to speak so freely about your faith.

It is interesting mentioning solidarity and encouraging listening to the oppressed. As a developer, i understand this concept so well and really appreciate it. One of the best ways to help is to listen to the one at the receiving end of every development intervention (in this case, advocacy) through community mobilization. Not only would it address the issue at hand appropriately, but it also breeds a sense of ownership, the contribution of local resources (endogenous development), as well as sustainability.
