Great video. I love that you said timeless women aren't sloppy. Street style is often that way and the reminder that being pulled together is possible on any budget resonates well with those of us who can't wear jeans & sneakers for many of our activities.

Some other wonderful brands that are less expensive are New York & Company, The Limited, White House Black Market, Ann Taylor, and sometimes you can find some nice timeless pieces at Banana Republic as well. 😊👍

Finally, you hit it right on the money. I could not decide what my style type was, but I know now as a woman in my early 30's with a tendency to wear classic, clean looks that I am a timeless beauty. Every single piece you showed I have similar items in my closet. Lauren you are amaze"balls".

I'm relatively new to the world of fashion. I never put too much thought into what I wore until recently, so I'm still trying to figure it all out. I think my personal style is some combination of classy, edgy, french chic, and minimalist. Surely it will become more narrow in scope and refined as time goes on. But more difficult than identifying personal style has been figuring out what actually looks good on me. Reading about body types and clothing can guide you, but you just need to try things on. I'll fall in love with a look on a model or celebrity, try to emulate it, but end up looking completely different from them. Or I might love how someone else looks in an outfit, put on something similar, but end up not feeling like me. It's a lot of trial and error, and finding what actually works for you.

This is totally my style. Thanks Lauren! I would add Charlize Theron and Amal Clooney as style icons. Also, you had the Givenchy Antigona handbag hanging right there and you didn't talk about it! I love classic structured bags and that is another hallmark of the timeless style. Another timeless designer that I love (and is quite affordable!) is Laundry by Shelli Segal. Love everything she creates!

Hi Lauren, love your channel! I'm 29 years old and asian...the problem with us asian is that we look 10 years younger than our actual age. I always have a hard time dressing appropriate to my age as I don't wanna look like I'm a teenager. I tend to reach for plain or solid colors but It feels kinda boring. I need help. I m a tastefully timeless person, age 67 but I have an apple shape body and cannot tuck a shirt in, so what do you suggest?
@Appleton-WI6 жыл бұрын
Sherry Hudson - no problem! Avoid chunky or cable knit sweaters. No ultra light or slinky materials. Wear clothing that has "body" to it so it hangs well. Bring the focus to your face/upper chest (with collared shirts, necklaces or earrings, light shoulder pads, brooches, bright scarves) or to your feet (with spectacular shoes or studs on the lower outside of jeans), and longer jackets, sweaters, vests that hit just below the bottom of your butt. Balance your figure with straight leg slacks or jeans. And, yes, you can tuck your shirt; lightly tuck one side in over your hip letting the hem of the shirt hang across you on a diagonal. Elegant!

I am 46 years old, teacher in high school and I dress in a various ways, casual chic, upgraded bohemian, edgy classic or modern romantic e.t. according to my mood or occasion. Is it alright or we must meanly have ONE style? I still have a difficulty to find my signature thing...

Actually I don't think I have "a type"....one day I may feel like dressing classic, another maybe boho chic, another day I might feel minimalist... I dont' think we have to have a "type" of style! Just to know how to put an outfit together that looks good, flattering, stylish and reflects your charisma. Thanks for the tips!

p.s. I also have a thick, short waist that you can barely see and you say to tuck shirts in. I admit to not wanting to sloppy, but I don't want to look cut in half also. I did also mention before what do you recommend for a dramatic/ sensual personality with a touch of trendy personality type and which one of your style series do you recommend? I absolutely love making an entrance and being sexy, but trampy. I also like to throw in a bit of trendy to catch people off guard. In other words " Flashy Not Trashy With A Bit Of An Edge" is how I'd describe my look.

This was a great and really helpful video!! You are killing the game. Do you have a recommendation for where to get more budget friendly blazers and a similar look to that givenchy (I think) bag?
@ThriftyMiss8 жыл бұрын
Forever21 and H&M offer some surprisingly decent blazers, though you do have to be discerning with your selection. Look for good fabric that doesn't pill easily (check the exterior armpit area for fuzz after trying on and enthusiastically rubbing your arms back and forth). Also look for a blazer that is lined- the fabric will lay nicer and have better structure, and especially with light colors, you won't see right through to the seams and clothes underneath. As always, check for good stitching, and it should last pretty well if you take care of it. I have a blazer from F21 that was under $30 five years ago and one from H&M that was on sale for $15, and both are still in great condition and look way more expensive than they were. You could also thrift shop, and may even score a designer find. Don't be afraid to buy something like that and get it tailored if you love it and the fit is a tiny bit off; if it fits in the shoulders, the adjustment shouldn't be terribly complicated.

I really appreciate these videos. I feel they would be more useful if you added links as to where to get both the investment pieces and the budget equivalents. Thanks

Great video! Speaking of timeless classics: how much timeless luxe can/should one go in the everyday life? I own a vintage black Chanel camera bag with golden hardware and i'm a bit reluctant to wear it in this average town of mine. I actually wanted to invest in a new classic flap, but i fear it would be too flashy for the everyday life as well. I don't ever see branded stuff on the street here. These people don't seem to care much about style anyway. What's your take on this Lauren?

Yes! I live in a rural small town and NOBODY here ever dresses up. I love classic, timeless pieces but I look so ridiculously out of place.
