This was my favorite part of this series. I used to be street walking Sally lol. But when I was that, I thought myself "but I feel powerful and confident like this, why should I change" but the truth is, these girls who dress like this, they aren't actually powerful or confident at all. I have already changed my style (your videos helped a lot too!) and now I feel actually what it feels to be a confident and powerful woman. I know many people might say on this video negative words, but I know from experience it worth to change, and be open minded about what Lauren says, because it makes sense.

Is it possible that some of us who have lost the connection to our femininity overcompensate by overemphasizing our curves with plunging necklines, molded dresses and spike heels?

Is it wrong that I’m dying laughing at the title alone? 😂 Anyway, I wish this particular video could be broadcast on a loop to middle school and high school girls so they don’t even go down this route.

I'm 26 and I literally JUST evolved my personal style. My faaaaaaaavorite shorts used to show the bottoms of my butt cheeks and literally none of my tops were full-length 😂 I thought that conservative style was boring! However, I recently relocated to NYC and am looking to build a professional career, and I'd also like to settle down and have a family and whatnot... I don't think the kind of men I'm looking for would appreciate a wife that looks like an Insta model. I love the aesthetic in photos, but in real life, it took a lot of work. When I go to work now, I don't have to suck anything in! My clothes fit well without special underwear, and I don't have to pull or tug at anything when I walk around town. I've come to the conclusion that any bar/club that makes me feel uncomfortable for transitioning my work wear day to night, is probably too young for me. I can't compete with 18yr olds! Lol we're not going the same places, so they can have the velvet ropes. I'm really digging sensible shoes *shrug*

The woman at 1:46 I wouldn't have categorized her as this type. A turtleneck sweater plus a jacket is very covered up. Her shorts are more like bermuda length, not too short and not skin tight. Is it just because she is braless?
@yurinhaschmidt30826 жыл бұрын
lestrange I think the bra-less look falls under this category, but probably not everyone agrees :)

It's because her nipples are clearly visible. If she zipped it up or had a scarf or something in front of them, it wouldn't matter. But if your erogenous zones are showing, it doesn't matter how covered up you are in other areas.

Los angles is full of people who dress this way. I remember how shocking it was to me as a Midwest native when i visited. Everybody looks like a walking fashionova ad or like they’re about to go to the club and it would be 1 in the afternoon.

I think of the "street walking Sally" as the type of woman who doesn't understand how to use the power that her looks and her body have over men. Like she knows she has that power, but she's overcompensating and like you said it just attracts the type of men that no one really wants to be around. It makes her feminine power feel cheap because she never gets anything long term out of it. The men she attracts will leave her quickly for the next trashy looking girl, and the ability to look perfect in skin tight mini dresses fades over time. No one takes her seriously for anything. The right way to use this type of look is sparingly, and usually to help you in making a man who is already attracted to you for being your awesome self, even more attracted to you once he sees how sexy you can be just for him. Anyone who says they dress that way for themselves and it's not about men is 100% lying to themselves. We all know instinctively that men are sexually attracted to women's bodies. The more you show, the more he's going to want to have sex with you. This is just the reality of it, it's just nature. It's all well and good to want that dream world where you can do literally anything you want and there won't be any negative consequences, but we live in a real world. Deal with it.

rosethorn0232 every girl I have ever known who dresses this way has serious self esteem issues. They’re too scared to leave the house without 10 layers of make up. It’s pretty sad.

Yes omg....like even if you have the body...dont wear it. There's other ways to be sexy without showing too much skin. You can be sexy just by showing collar bones, a tiny bit of stomach, sheer shirts, etc...

And thank you.

I'm curious why the last photo is street walk Sally? Is it the combination of no bra AND the shorts? It took me by surprise!
@eizhowa6 жыл бұрын
Holly Cumming probably the Dukes of Hazzards combination of shorts, cowboy boots and no bra.
@eizhowa6 жыл бұрын
Martita 28 I would argue that cowboy boots and frayed shorts will always be tacky.
@kokolatte8256 жыл бұрын
I think so. The shorts weren't too short but, they were cut offs. That doesn't have to be bad but coupled with the high boots just looks tacky and no bra to top it all off. A mess.
@hollycumming6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how I feel about no bra being considered trashy. I've worn bras most of my life but recently have been exploring how I feel not wearing any! I think I'll end up switching to really soft stretchy non wired bras. But it's interesting how we just put up with the discomfort of wearing standard wired bras to make sure we look "professional" for example. I'm kinda torn because I value my own comfort very highly. But I also want to look good! Playing with the balance I guess!
@kokolatte8256 жыл бұрын
Holly Cumming I think it was the combination of things because honestly my eye went to the cut offs with boots pairing. I noticed the braless part last. I do think you have to wear a bra to work but, in your social life I think you can go braless if that's what you want to do. I don't think it'll make you look like a "Sally".

Agree!! I don't care if you have the "body" or not!! It looks trashy and cheap and like the woman doesn't respect herself if she wears clothes like this when not going to a club or in vegas. It's tawdry and doesn't look good. I'm sick of the obsession with being "thick" it's encouraging women to dress like this. Nonono!
@rinwesley30926 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I love this episode of the series because it's so honest. Yes, I used to dress like that when I was young because I got attention. For some reason I used to get pilloried for even admitting this. You may not be a ho, but if you dress in a ho's uniform you can't really complain when someone gets the wrong idea.
@GreenGorgeousness6 жыл бұрын
least favorite one. Breast pain issues make make wearing bras push me to rip my breasts off. being braless has been the only way (after 300 bra try ons). I simply do no support nipples and/or see the shape of breasts "trashy". If I have to be trashy to deal with my (and many others) breast so be it. This was a good series, but I just can't support/live that.

It was never my style up until now. :) and it's only sometimes. Now when I'm in secure relationship I feel like it's nice to have some sexy dresses. I try to buy expensive looking sexy clothes though. I don't think I would wear some of my dresses when I'm single. But I enjoy my man enjoying them on me. :) If I was single I'd wear classy outfits since it's the message I want to send and the type of man I want to attract.

Teneisha Dean well I guess a woman can celebrate her body without it looking...over the top. Some may even argue that dressing like an off duty stripper is not necessarily celebrating your body. But oh well.

Lol when women dress like that they are definitely dressing for men. I don’t mean she’s looking to get laid, but she definitely wants the approval.
