Lav Mic Wind Protection: Bubblebee Lav Concealers + Fur Outdoor

I have done a lot of testing and the Bubblebee Lav Concealers do the best job. The smooth metal guard is quieter than any fabric or foam cover. The rubber mount also provides good protection to the mic. Regardless of concealer, clothing rustle in most reduced when mounting lav to clothing over bare skin. Simply because skin (usually) is smoother than fabric. Problem it is then more visible.

When the interviewee is a lady, it is difficult to stick this on their skin. Would it work when sticking to their clothing? We are getting rustling sounds from the lav concealer alone a lot.

If my primary concern is rustling and wind noise. Should the Lav Furs alone be enough? Is there an advantage to also having the Lav Concealer? Does the tape on the Lav Fur's leave any residue?

Hi Rigo, if rustling and wind noise are your main concern then you can just use the Invisible Lav Covers - Fur Outdoor. They do an excellent job at eliminating both of these things. We have a video on them called "These Furry Lav Mic Covers Prevent Wind and Clothing Noise". The tape does not leave any residue and the small window cut out of The Invisible Lav Tape means that no glue touches the microphone capsule at all. The addition of The Lav Concealer is an advantage as it's made of organic rubber which helps to absorb vibrations and excess noise, completely isolating the microphone's capsule. The Lav Concealer also comes with metal fabric guards that move the point of contact between the mic and clothing, moving the fabric away from the capsule. I hope this helps!
