I’m visiting Hawaii for the holidays. I secretly bought a ukulele and started learning how to play. I wanted to surprise my girlfriend. I learned this song with your help, and I asked her to marry me after I played it. She said yes!! Your channel basically taught me everything I know. Thank you so much!
congrats bro im happy for you i realize this is a year later so hows the ukulele going?

So many things about this tutorial that make it better than every other tutorial for any song I've seen so far. For example, she names the strings and fingers instead of numbering them, so we beginners don't have to try keeping track of finger number, fret number, and string number. Then she not only shows us how to finger the chords, she explains a simple method to transition from one to another.

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I am an absolute beginner, and I bought a ukulele for my boyfriend as a birthday gift (he never played ukulele, but he plays the cello and guitar), so now while he is not home I am practicing this song in secret for an extra surprise! I am focusing only on the chorus because it's still too much for me to learn, but I am having lots of fun! I have been watching many of your videos and they have been super helpful (specially for choosing and buying the ukulele). Keep up the great work! Greetings from Portugal!

Hi, I am a bit of a late comer here for this tutorial. I must say this was absolutely wonderful and I loved your performance, your vocals and ukulele playing were delightful and a sheer joy to listen to. Thank you for making this super fun video. I have already started learning it so I can perform it for family and friends in the near future. I also wanted to bring to your attention is that there is a small lyric error you have in this video. At the very beginning of the song in the second line you sing and write it as "He sat high above his bed watching all the couples play..." but the correct line is: He sat high above his BAY watching all the couples play. So there is a rhyme scheme present in every line throughout the song and bed doesn't rhyme with play.

You’re not alone. Many people are in the same boat as you are right now. Don’t give up. The more and more familiar you are with the song, the easier the singing becomes. I couldn’t sing and play at the same time to save my life when I first started 😂. I have made a video about singing and playing, and I’ll link it. I hope it helps. In the meantime, be patient and focus on your progress and not perfection. Everyone starts somewhere, and the fact that you’re starting and trying is amazing. I have a Cordoba 15cm-e concert sized and it sounds really nice. There is a Cordoba 15cm which is the same model but with no option to plug into an amplifier. It's just as nice though, and a bit less expensive I think. Maybe around $100. That's not a bad price for a well made ukulele. Hope you have fun. It's not hard to learn, and so much fun. I just started last year and I'm having a blast. Good luck, Aaron
