Unrelated to this video but, I watch your videos with my two year old daughter and she calls you princess Aileen and “reads” my artist of life workbook like a fairytale after seeing the same book in your videos and your picture in the book. Another mindset that is not necessarily negative but it can be is that you have to work really hard to make money. It's good to value hard work and to know that things don't just fall off trees, but also keep your mind open enough to not "penalize yourself" because you think you're not "working hard enough for the money you're earning." In the "work smarter, not harder" era, it's important to give work the proper value, no more, nor less.

@lexamazing You will definitely thank yourself in the future. I was the same way in high school: working for minimum wage 19 hrs/wk plus a side video job and AP classes. I saved everything I could for the future. I was definitely stressed, but it really paid off! Now that I'm in my 20's close to graduating from business school, I have all my college paid for by scholarships and grants, saved thousands, and had wonderful job opportunities. The fact that you are consciously saving and making decisions about your finances will make you successful. My favorite quote about money is "live like no one else now, and you will live like no one else in the future" meaning if you save while you're young, you will see blessings in the future. You're doing great! :)

Hey Terese. Just a reminder. Especially if you're a Christian. If you don't claim something you desire in the name of Jesus and you claim it from the "universe" it is in fact demonic and of Satan. Power or "energy" is either from God or from Satan. There is no in between. So be mindful of the energies you attract to yourself. The devil is great at deceiving people. God bless

I really needed to hear this. I took a leap of faith and left my job a few months ago and left behind a salary I was very comfortable with. Now I do work that I love, but the money isn't there yet. I want to continue trusting God and believing that it will come. But now I realize the thoughts I've been putting into the universe about my current financial situation have been a huge barrier to that money coming. I bought You Are a Badass At Making Money so long ago and it's just sitting on my shelf. I'm going to read it now! Thank you!

I love all of your videos, but this one I think is my fave because of the tone of my life at the moment. Until recently I could never understand how I can manifest money and things sometimes, then not manifest anything the next. It's like you said it is mindset, and if we have a fear mindset then the halts everything. I haven't had a job since 2010, and for years I paid attention to others who told me I needed a job in order to earn money. Because of the lack of job I assumed I'd never have money but I was wrong. And when I turned 30 last month I put it into my mind as "what's the worse that can happen if I just tweak a few things", and I've been manifesting so much in 2018...way more than I have ever all because I've changed my mindset. Thank you Aileen, you are a true light worker. Please do more financial sort of videos.

I hear where u are coming from. I'm an immigrant too and grew up working class- yes there are issues in the world- I and you are not denying that. I certainly don't deny: classism, racism, hatred, coruption etc.. The ONLY thing you have control of is yourself, so you are saying do all you can, mindset then action to change your life. If we wait for government or society it may never happen. But what I"ve seen is that once you start taking action, being positive, sharing your hopes and dreams-- others will want to help you, support will come! And yes pick a successful person like yourself- to model after to read their life story! Stay Blessed all.

I appreciate the advice and i think most of it is helpful. I disagree with the comment on how we start off is not an excuse to not reaching our goals. Like you, I was able to succeed, and i am grateful for it and recognize my own privilege. But I also recognize that this capitalist society that were part of doesn't allow for everyone to succeed. the way it is structured under capitalism, in order for people to succeed, there has to be people who don't therefore not all of us can truly make it. not that this should deter anyone from trying, we should all strive for better, but in the end, the individual can't alone be blamed for not succeeding. There are some forces out of our control that influence the path in our life whether it's not having legal status, taking care of sickly parents, coming from a marginalized background etc. yes there are the few that we look up to who make us feel like we too can succeed, but again, not everyone will be able to get there because of other forces working against them. But again I definitely agree, we should strive our best and take chances, we might be part of that 1%
@lavendaire6 жыл бұрын
I’m saying that it will be harder for some people because we all start in different places. But don’t let that discourage you because even if you’re way disadvantaged, you can still make moves to improve your situation vs. giving up at the start and staying in the same place!! Does that make sense??
@h20ellipsis6 жыл бұрын
lexis201 Yeah, I kinda have issues with this video. Of course we hold a lot of personal power but this video errs very much on the side of blaming people who aren’t successful. Like, genuinely good for you that you carved a good life for yourself, but you’re effectively saying that all those people who live in disadvantaged areas, or in poverty, or in countries where people are starving, or are homeless, etc., are just in that place because they haven’t manifested good vibes and tried hard enough? Putting JK Rowling up as an example that you too can be successful is like telling a six year boy that they can be the next Ronaldo if they just try hard enough. Sure, JK Rowling and premier league footballers worked for where they are, but they got lucky. For every JK Rowling there are hundreds of people whose books are never published, for every premier league footballer there are thousands of people who never make it anywhere near the premier league, despite trying. I have just finished filling out the Artist of Life workbook and am feeling very positive about using it for this year. It’s incredibly helpful to set some goals for the year and work out how you’re going to accomplish them, be clear about things you’d like to do for fun, and I’m a huge advocate for people creating a budget and being conscious about their money in order to save money. Surely it’s good enough for people to be financially stable, and to make the most out of whatever salary they earn. Why does everyone need to aim to be wealthy, unless that’s someone’s specific goal? This is where I get uncomfortable, when self-help that can be positive and rewarding gets aligned with a ‘get rich quick’ tone. It comes off as disingenuous and hollow. These books/internet people that promote working a dream job and minimal hours but still being rich is SO unrealistic for 99.9% of people. Realistically, if you want to be wealthy (which is a totally different thing to financially stable) you have to get to the top of a profession and be working a huge numbers of hours per work, taking away time that could be spent seeing friends and family, doing hobbies and relaxing. I know what I’d prefer. Last point - there are a lot of jobs/industries that just don’t pay that much money. Unless you get to the very top of a profession or own a successful business, you’ll probably just earn an amount that’s alright and stable, but not wealthy. And that’s fine. But yeah, blaming people’s living situation/financial situation entirely on the person themselves is totally ignoring the systems of inequality and prejudice ingrained in our society. Telling people that they need to say mantras about how they’re wealthy and then they will become wealthy, or that they just need to state their aspirations into the universe and the universe will grant them is, frankly, deeply troubling advice to be giving out. I know you’re trying to encourage people to set goals, work towards them and achieve what they want, but some goals are more realistic than others, and we have to accept that we don’t always get exactly what we want. We can learn from that and adapt our lives accordingly.
@h20ellipsis6 жыл бұрын
Also, the gap between the poorest and the wealthiest in this world is getting wider. The poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. Surely a better message to put out is to consider ways, be it through political activism etc., to try and change this? To effect the change you want to see in the world?
@lexis2016 жыл бұрын
lavendaire yeah that definitely makes sense, but maybe that clarification would be helpful. no offense I love your videos, I just think that it doesn't help to say if they made it we all can, or if my parents made it with nothing then you can too. i think that message may affect some people who are doing everything in their power to achieve their goals but its just not happening for them. Or all the other people who are affected by strong outside forces. Maybe the message should be a bit different. just a thought....keep up the videos tho I do enjoy them

Also, I liked how you encourage us to not allow our current/past mindset to cloud the potential we have to better ourselves. That being said, I've recently discovered Dave Ramsey and he also talks about having a why. And he would agree with you that it's important to save more and/or earn more. However, he would add that getting and staying out of debt is the best way to build wealth to pursue your why. At some point, credit scores won't matter because you'll be out of debt and have money. Didn't know all that history about your parents, that was awesome to hear. I love hearing the stories about my family members that immigrated to the states. It's a great observation how different families can all start with the same roots and circumstances and have wildly different futures they built for themselves. I believe everything you say about the mindset of money and know just how you felt when you felt money was coming so slllllloooooow and then to later have it come easily and with force. I have to get back to the abundant place and I'm doing the self work and work work to do so. I know my money is on the way and I know that I will watch this video back later and remember how I felt watching it the first time. That I'll be in a freer place next time I play this back. Could you make a video about separating work life from personal life for freelancers/entrepreneurs/at home workers? Tips you personally have like maybe not having KZbin or apps on phone and only at desktop or office hours, etc? I find my family calls me any time of day and wants to talk for hours meanwhile I have stuff to get done and I’ll even remind them I do but they just either don’t understand what I do or try to understand even when I do explain it or just don’t get it or care. Hard to separate family without shutting them out even if I talk to them about it.. personally they just forget me and want to talk about so and so in their life. It’s rough. Makes me feel drained and kinda not cared about and makes me lose my motivation to keep working that day when family life gets in the way.

Also would you share what host you use for your website or recommendations? I’m focused on nutrition, article content creation about nutrition education, plan to do my own photography some day with that, would like to sell recommended essential oils through my website. I am seeking which host to start with for my website. Thinking Bluehost with WordPress or have been offered help to start with SquareSpace but don’t know if that has Wordpress. Any tips would be really helpful! My next step is starting a Amazon Selling Course, while I write online nutrition, as I’m a health coach, after I start selling a bit while I write, get that going while I go back to finish a nutrition degree. Any tips on website creation or anything!! Thank you so much, I really admire and aspire to be like you! It’s amazing what you do for the world!

I recommend saying “I am” because putting things in present tense makes the Universe believe you already have it. For instance saying “I am a millionaire” or “I am financially abundant”

Thanks for reminding me to trust the universe. I honestly am not afraid of making money and I make a decent amount but recently I've been worried for no reason whatsoever. This is exactly what I needed to hear and I'll take it as a sign :)

I feel in love with you again seeing this video. I always say the same thing to people and I get shamed for it, but it is the truth. We must pave our own way.

Thank you so much for this video. I am a freshman in college, and I would always use the phrase, "broke college student" or "I'm too broke for that" and unfortunately that has been my reality. I used to think that these little "jokes" were funny and I never really realized how much these actually affected my life until now. I am definitely going to take into everything into consideration that you mentioned in this video and apply them into my daily routine. Again thank you so much for sharing, and I will be sending lots of love and good vibes your way!

Hey Aileen, I know it's gonna be 2020 soon, but I wanted to thank you for making this video. I have this situation where I just graduate from college and I haven't got a normal job yet. So I made an online jewelry shop and make a digital agency but I'm still not sure of them, but now I know what I have to do with my online shop and my digital agency. Thank you for encouraging me❤ Also your parents' story is so inspiring. Thank you, and thank you for making Lavendaire, I lovee watching your videos. Love from Indonesia❤

So true about mindset and not making up excuses. And I love the fact that you rewear your pink and white striped dress throughout this and other videos because not only does it looks lovely on you, you send the message that it is more than ok to repeat the same clothes/outfit. We don't have to chase the next best fashion trend constantly and ruin our finances and the environment for it.

Hi Aileen, I have just read this book The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey which say otherwise, don’t improve your credit score aka don’t live on debt, or get into student loan without first consider the pro n con. More details in the book. Let me know what do you think after you read it (if you will read it) The book is recommended by Oprah Winfrey Club and came up several times in youtube comment so I decided to check it out. Also came up in top search for best seller financial book. Thanks!

I'm so glad you added the comment about Dave Ramsey. I wrote a comment earlier about it but I guess it didn't post. 😫 I'm doing the baby steps and my only regret is not knowing sooner.
