Yes, my grandpa had one close to the fireplace. Matchstick were really long. There was a small spot to slide the match on. Sweet memories.

Good call on the shirts. $7.99 for a basic RL button down is just crazy at a thrift store...and frankly, that manager made a huge mistake - they could have sold dozens of shirts at a fair price to a loyal, DAILY customer, but they chose to be stingy instead and lost the sale.

A friend taught me a long time ago to use a carribeaner clip to clip your purse handle to the cart. It's super easy and lightweight!

Around 2015 or so I was in the Goodwill bins store near my Dad's place and as I was standing in line behind a woman with an overloaded cart and spied a navy blue wool pea jacket laying on top of the bin I could see forward of the cashier stand. I walked over and picked it up. It was a Pendleton brand in a size my daughter could wear. It still had dry cleaning tags pinned into the neck. That bins store sold their clothes for $1 per piece. I snatched that up and my daughter still wears it. My husband is NOT a thrift store shopper.. He has many great qualities, but he would rather pay full price at a big department store. I, on the other hand love the thrill of the thrift store hunt!!!

Our shopping philosophy is a lot alike. I don't enjoy the bins. I love the Goodwill stores but I am over the sticking their price tag over the brand on hard goods. I used to carefully lift those labels up and peak to try and find out the brand but now I am not as careful with that. The cashier couldn't scan one of my items this week and she scolded me. I said to her, "do you buy things when you are shopping when you don't know what they are"? She didn't answer but as always I was kind to her and helped her wrap up all my purchases. You and Roger are adorable. So happy for both of you.

When I lived in Lancaster County I liked the bins because you can get some very good deals there, but you have to kind of be in the mood for that kind of shopping.

@@sunshinedream7772 During the Great Recession in '08 I was a digger. Now I prefer the regular store for the most part but I haven't been able to go to that one on Rt. 30 in a very long time. This Recession I go to the regular store in my local area. They have no bin section, but it's all good.

Here's a tip LC.....about your handbag....usually there are straps with connectors to strap kids into the top level seat...intertwine your purse straps into these and connect....usually they take a minute to pull apart (if there is a thief lurking about) & this gives you time to take care of the situation... I do this at Walmart & grocery shopping as well...hope this helps...of course always have your 3rd eye on your cart. as well..hahaha

I got a ST JOHN overcoat at my bins yesterday! I had a great day. I found Free People, Rae Dunn, vintage glass and pottery, Dale of Norway ( which I never heard of but happy I grabbed the sweater with tags!!)

Goodwill is getting greedy. They should price it to move it. Had a bad experience at a Goodwill not in my county where they wouldn't take my number and apply the TODAY DISCOUNT to my tickets. I should have walked, lesson learned - watch each G Will makes their own rules. Not fair to us shoppers. Thanks for great content and always super finds. Love seeing your other half, nice to have someone to share a hobby/passion/money making business.

Karen, I am local and I was at the bins last night. My 4 yr old daughter was with me and she picked up that yellow bench that you help in front of the camera. ( doll furniture) It just makes me smile when I see the same stuff you film

That’s sweet!!! Great that your 4 year old is a scavenger expert!!! 😂👍🏾 I met a guy who grew up at the bins. As a college student he does his homework there and travels a couple hours on weekends to the bigger bins. He makes a living selling on Mercari (very selective thrifter).

The item you said might be a planter or candle holder I believe is a bathroom wastebasket. I worked at Bed Bath and Beyond for years. That would be part of a line that would include a toothbrush holder, tissue cover, soap dish etc.

@@lavenderclothesline yes, the are supposed to fit between the toilet and the vanity. They are very heavy and usually cost between $30-$60 which always seemed crazy but they are typically heavy and low profile. Check you local Bed Bath and Beyond, Macy’s or Dillard’s and you’ll see similar items.

I will usually hook the straps around my purse handles. You know the seat belt that a child would use of they were sitting in the cart. I then feel more comfortable walking a little ways from my cart. That way if someone were to try and grab my purse they wouldn't be able to lift it out. Just a tip that works well for me. 😊

I always use the child seatbelts in the shopping cart and wrap them through the handles of my purse several times and then fasten them. At least it won't get snatched out of your shopping cart. I also throw something like a piece of clothing over it to sort of hide it.

That baby bottle dryer is something I’ve been looking for. It’s the green prickly thing with the white tray under it. I paint and once I’ve used a paint brush and washed it they’re perfect for drying them.

I believe you on the handbag when I was younger I only ever ever carried the tiniest cross body . Now past menopause I need 3 pairs of glasses readers and prescription sunglasses and regular prescription sunglasses , Huge wallet to carry all the adult cards you need when older, Black light for testing for uranium glass, magnifying glass to read jewelry marks, snacks because I am ways freaking hungry when I was younger I could days without eating ,,, and water because you need water and have you seen what they want for drinks these days . I stopped by burger king just for a small coke with ice and they wanted to charge me 3 dollars ummm no . OH and do not forget phones these days

Also I take a tote too and I make sure it is zipped up so that no one can just stick their hand in there and I also clip the strap that is supposed to hold a child around it so if someone tries to just run off with it the strap will deter them a bit. My son was at Kaiser picking up my prescriptions and set his phone down for a minute and someone took it. Doesn't matter where you go.

Yes, the brass tall vase is a matchstick holder. It has a striker on the side that is colored a brick red. A quick look showed the striker still in good shape. Tall match sticks get stored in this with match tip above the rim of holder so possible condensation won't make the match heads spongy. Great find.

The smaller yellow tubs you could use to put your packages in every day for the post office. They can wheel it to the truck then wheel it back so you can use it day after day.

I LOVED those two canvas bins on wheels! I would've grabbed them in a New York minute! I'm not positive what I would have done with them, but I'd have found a use for them for sure... I like the above suggestion of using them for your shipping packages: fewer trips for your mail carrier.

The BOK sweater may have been a good pickup - 1 sold on eBay recently for $68. However it was only 1 in the last 90 days. Looking at Terapeak, a few other BOK sweaters sold in the $45 range over the last 365 days.

I know someone who collects those Kellogs cereal keepers to keep cereals, flours, oat etc. fresh. I think a lot of people like them. I have been put off Ebay buying simply because I do not want to wear clothes, footwear that has been through the bins store. I know you take care with all your items and that is different. agreed I on putting back the shirts wait long enough they will end up at the bins , I worked for a multi million dollar company and they had a motto " your first loss is your best loss" That manager made a huge mistake and should have sold them to you for 5.99 each , Heck I would have made you an even better deal . I rarely shop at GW or savers or even most thrifts now they are just over priced . I like retail arbitrage clearance racks and smaller thrifts
