Her response basically diverted attention to shows where you can actually see trans actors portraying roles of trans people. These are good examples that were given, because Hollywood's go-to move is to give those roles to cis women. Those shows alone feature at least a couple of dozen trans actresses, so they are out there. Constantly running to cis female actors to portray these roles isn't necessary, especially if trans actors aren't given the same opportunities to play cis roles on the same level and at the same numbers as their cis counterparts. Also speaking about Scar Jo would be reductive. She didn't do anything heroic, she only caved in because of the backlash.

I love Laverne. She’s well rehearsed and knows how to play the game of Hollywood. She “big upped” shows that prove Trans actors can thrive if allowed. Speculating or commenting on a scandal like the one with Scar Jo could crate the kind of backlash that could hurt or jeopardize Laveren’s career.

Nah she used her limited time wisely. Rather than comment directly on what bullshit Scarlett’s casting was, she used the time to promote shows that cast trans actors for trans roles. She got her point across, while using all that time taking about trans Hollywood and none of her time wasted on Scarlett.

I have mixed feelings about it.. the first time i was introduced to Trans people in my life Felicity Huffman in trans America and i think she did a beautiful job in that role. I think acting is a all about transforming (wow no pun intended)

Jazzy Cakeup just think of a white person playing a black person in a slave film. We choose black actors because of their skin, for one, but also because that's their story. A white person can't play a black persons feeling of oppression as well

We have one life so it’s best to focus on what we can do to smile from the inside out. He make me laugh, plus I love his guests. Have you seen Just tattoo of us, lord that’s messed up. @hellomynameisbanana. How hypocritical when you are watching this and taking your time and energy to leave a comment. About “type of gay” - I had some issues with that. 1- if you feel he doesn’t represent your beliefs or acts how you act then express that. 2- But “type”?? Gay is about diversity and it means a sexual tendency in which we are incline to. That’s it. We are not a different “type” of species. So far I have the same organs and body as your “type”. LOL With that being said, as a human being just like you who just happens to sexually be gay (big deal) I don’t feel the need to be classified nor I like to be boxed in a type. My type is: a human being. Now if you don’t like the way I portray myself and it doesn’t represent your belief or personality or any others human gay or straight that’s fine, AND NORMAL. Scarlett could have attracted a lot of attention to transgender issues and maybe even won an oscar in that role. Is drawing attention more important than a handful of actually transgender people working in Hollywood? yes in my opinion. Ousting Scarlett from the movie was a mistake by SJW that will backfire.
