You can be whatever you want to be. And They deserve equal rights HOWEVER, when they push their agenda on children that’s where I draw the line. Be who you want. But don’t force your agenda on people
@adrians71864 жыл бұрын
@@superhxcdave First of all there is no agenda and you can't be taught to be gay. If that were true then it would go both ways. My entire life until college all I ever saw was straight people in movies and TV shows. Even as a child all I ever saw were Disney movies where the prince and princess kiss at the end. Heterosexuality was shoved in my face everywhere I looked. I had never met or seen a single gay person and I have no gay people in my family. My religious parents never mentioned a single thing about the LGBT community. Still I've known I was gay ever since I was a kid, I just didn't have the words for it. And if you still want to blame my sexuality on my upbringing I have a twin brother who grew up exactly like me and he is the straightest man you'll ever meet. You can't be turned gay as much as I couldn't be turned straight. Your "normal" straight agenda was forced on me my entire life and it didn't make any difference. Until recently gay couples weren't even allowed to have/raise children and every gay kid for thousands of years was raised by a straight couple. We are all born this way, it is not a choice. Why would so many people choose to be outcasts of society who are treated less than human, tortured, and even murdered violently in many countries? Furthermore there aren't any more gay people today than there were 1000 years ago. If it seems that way it's only because our global human population is far greater meaning there's more of every kind of person, and more people are open about themselves than ever before since in many countries we don't have to fear being imprisoned or killed anymore. People are allowed to be themselves more than ever before in the media as well, immensely boosting LGBT people's visibility. These facts are often manipulated by conservative religious people to make it seem like "gayness" is contagious and spreading, even though the percentage of the population that is LGBT has been the same throughout all human history.

In the Netherlands we have a similar law since the year 2000. Is the USA really so far behind with LGBT rights?
@adrians71864 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately we are very behind other more advanced countries like the Netherlands. The United States is more like 50 small countries instead of one big one. Each state has different laws and cultures. Some are more advanced and liberal like California and New York, and others are very conservative and stuck in the 1700s like Alabama and Mississippi. We don't have a popular vote like Europeans were each person's vote counts when electing our president. The states have representatives called the electoral college and they vote for us. The conservative states with much lower populations are given as much voting power as the liberal more populated states. California that has 50 million people has the same voting power as Montana that has 500,000. Because of this it is very hard and takes very long to make changes as a single country. By the way I was very lucky to visit your beautiful country with my family many years ago around 2003, and I loved it so much. I am gay, and at that time i was still in high school and hiding it from my friends and family and scared because things were much worse here in the United States for LGBT people. It was so nice to see a country that was so accepting of everyone no matter where you are from and who you love. And the architectecture was beautiful. I hope I can go back some day and experience it all again now that I am grown up, an architect, and out and proud. I'm sure I will enjoy it even more!

The land of the free really isn't what it parades as.

Adrian S , Interesting. I don’t know exactly how the electoral college works but it sounds complicated. We have our problems in Holland and some other European countries as well. There are people who reject LGBTQ but generally it’s very liberal. I have a son who is gay and luckily coming out wasn’t a problem. I am so happy he was born in a country where the vast majority of the people accept him and legally his rights are protected. Good to learn about the Supreme Court ruling and it is getting better in the USA as well, and good for you don’t have any problem being openly gay.
@ariescheurkogel59424 жыл бұрын
Evie Ovalle. Most Europeans, me included think about NY or LA when it comes to the USA but it very diverse of course. In Poland they also think very different about LGBTQ rights than in Holland. Both counties are in the EU but totally different cultures. I guess the USA is similar, you only don’t have a language barrier

@@ejm6122 why does their gender identity matter so much to you? It makes you look like your fragile male ego is in a knot. It doesn't make you sound aware or intelligent. It just makes you look disrespectful. She's simply asking to be treated like a woman. How is it such a threat to you that you took the time to post on several comments about calling Laverne by her birth asigned sex? It has nothing to do with you. It's like knowing someone's blonde but they dye their hair brown. Who cares that you know? What does it matter? It doesn't harm anyone but your need to out people from their comfort zone definitely is. You're not proving anything, you're not doing any good deed. If it's so beyond you to respect someone's choice of identity at the least don't watch and keep that narrative between you and that demographic rather than transfer it over here where it's clear the demographic is LGBTQ. Your rhetoric doesn't belong here, yet you're in spaces you don't support. It makes you look homophobic. Statistics do say homophobes are usually homosexuals. Is this your misplaced internalized hate? Get a therapist. In general, a broader, exanded dialogue- being rude to someone because they're different from you in a non problematic way is never okay. There's no "right" way to live. We're all figuring it out as we go. We won't go far if we go alone. If we came together, supported one another, there would be a lot more peace, love and harmony in the world.
