My friend is a programmer. He was mugged. He was taken to an ATM and made to withdraw $500 at gunpoint. My friend showed me the picture of the suspect, drawn in pencil. When the suspect was caught, the picture was incredibly accurate. So I said "wow that police sketch artist is really good"... My friend said "No I drew this. I used to be a portrait painter.." Turns out he became a programmer, after his daughter was born. It is a steady job, and the pay is great. His drawing was a key piece of evidence, and the guy went away for a long time. Apparently if you force someone to drive somewhere against their will, they can add a kidnapping charge on top of the armed robbery charge. Man, that was impressive work by my friend. The prosecution was very thankful, just like Det. Logan here.

Old people get confused. A nice old lady left a long message on my phone which was intended for her doctor. She was complaining about a bad reaction she's having with her medication. So I promptly called her to let her know the message didn't get to her doctor, and to find out the right number. But she kept asking me "how did you get MY number?" I kept saying "you called me....". Then it dawned on me she must've dialed from a land line, she doesn't know how a mobile phone works and she's scared that some stranger has her number. It took me a while to convince her that I'm not a scammer, I'm just trying to do the right thing. When I said "you're very welcome, and hope you feel better", she said "you are very kind, young man...". Poor old soul!

Cult classic, my parents are 84 and 81 and have been using caller I.D. since it was offered in the early 90’s. I can’t imagine how the lady didn’t understand what a caller I.D. or a message was unless they had trouble with their cognitive skills. Did she have any other problems that you could tell?

@@sarcasticallyrearranged she probably chose not to adapt when it came out and is now older and has a harder time understanding new information and concepts. My father REFUSED to get texting on his phone until I went to middle school he got it soley so I text him "I'm home" every day (this was like 2012). He mentioned a few months ago he still wonders if it was the right choice (mostly because he's been roped into group chats that annoy him, which is why he doesn't have Facebook even). Man, I went for a week long beach vacation, and just 3 hours into it I dropped my wallet in a back alley. I hadn’t had a chance to empty it of the super important stuff, so my whole life was in there. I was devastated, but when we came across a pair of cops, I asked is there was a lost and found along the boardwalk. They called the station, and it turns out someone turned it on, WITH all my money still inside. I was beyond happy, and in the moment I was like “can I hug you?” He was like, “um, no...” Nice guys, but all business. The vacation continued with my faith in humanity restored!

As people are saying it is the little details in this show that make it very likable as those little details happen in real life. The husband wrapping his arms around his wife is very much in real life and works as think about it you are a elderly black couple when this white guy in a suit comes up to you that you do not know. The 1st thing you are gonna do is protect you loved ones.

Chris Noth (Logan) and Jerry Orbach (Briscoe) undoubtedly had and traded one-liners and quips back and forth. Jerry could be perceived as being more dry in his approach. But Chris asking if he could give the elderly woman a hug was indeed touching, especially since it was an extremely rare occurrence in Noth's role...

Could be as many shows do use the people who live in the area they are filming since it would make it more believable. Like having real firefighters in some of the Firefighting based shows that are out there right now. Chicago fire is one as Tony Ferria of Squad 3 is in fact a real Chicago firefighter going under his real name that was brought on I think so that he could just drive the Engine but became a fan favorite. Also most of the of the firefighters you see driving any type of truck, engine or Ladder are the real deal due to some sort of clause.

Her husband and she banter/bicker about who remembers correctly what they saw.😍🥰 I also remember Ms. Rosanna from the movie She-Devil. She is the judge Roseanne/Ruth has one of her Vesta Girls to replace from the original judge that would've given her husband Bob a slap on the wrist. Mrs. Carter also starred in an episode of Good Times. She lived to be 98 years old. The third sister, Estelle (Role) Evans, starred as Calpurnia in To Kill a mockingbird, plus episodes of Good Times and the Jeffersons. They were three out of EIGHTEEN SIBLINGS! Don't you just love the fact how the only lead (which actually resulted in catching the kidnapper) came from the fact he stopped over to use the payphone? ;) :)

@@karazor-el6085 I know. But what I meant was rather the whole concept of using payphones being so characteristic of those particular times (which were already ending). The kidnapper wouldn't be caught for that reason in the 21st century, would he? :) My childhood and teens were spent in the pre-digital era too, and I remember all the drama that could be caused by the fact of being out and unable to phone because "I didn't have small change for the payphone" :)
@Treblaine
@Treblaine 2 жыл бұрын
I think he used a payphone as it seemed to be a trace-less way to make a phonecall. I don't think he had the technical expertise to get a "burner phone" in that time period.

So they go from having no leads to having a license plate in two seconds flat thanks to a watchful neighbor. We need more people like this couple. Her watchfulness saved a life. I hope that wealthy family gave them a nice tip. Like, say a three-week vacation wherever they want.
