I'm a lawyer in another country... I've listened to a lot of legal professors in my life, but I absolutely love listening to this guy. His willingness and ability to explain in layman's terms and sacrifice a little of the legal perfections is fantastic. Some lawyers can't get past that need for precision when explaining to non-lawyers. He is compelling. I love him.

Did TWO Narcissistic people meet and marry and Implode: one a DIVA Ballerina-Narcissist; the other a Narcissistic former military man/technology businessman? Or did a selfish narcissistic ballerina merely see a means to aggrandize her dream of her own company thru this husband's business acumen only to see her start up disintegrate and fail, then dream up a plan to "off him"? Or, although there is no evidence to indicate, did this man/husband, a vulnerable narcissist, indeed have a history of domestic violence, that was unknowingly and unreportedly carried out in his first relationship...and now subsequently surfacing in his second relationship??

What's that got to do with her innocence or guilt in murder? All that is important is the relevant facts and the law in this case. It was no secret, Eva's dad told her the reason to give her a mother figure. Eva also said she cannot understand why Ashley took away her only parent. So yea, think about it from the daughter's perspective.

Definitely 100% guilty. She asked him to her house and planned it perfectly. She certainly wasn’t going anywhere with him. After all, she obviously accused him of some terrible things. Not to mention she fired FOUR times and TWICE hitting him. WHY would she have to hit him twice? She absolutely could of stopped shooting after she hit him in the leg and actually run, if apparently she was in fear of her life. Yeah no. She wanted him 100% gone from her and her daughters life. I hope his daughter testifies - I saw an interview with his daughter in which she basically said that Ashley had lured him back after they were clearly done with the intent to kill him for the life insurance which I think is interesting that it's not mentioned since they were still married. The daughter said Ashley basically was using her dad the whole time they were together - the man invested in her own ballerina company which failed bc after she got pregnant she stopped showing up at all after they had already contractually singed on several dancers.

I tell you this sounds like the classic gold digger murder. We have a rich newly widowed man in his fifties and here is a twenty something making him feel young again. They marry in two weeks but don’t invite his family. She has him reverse his vasectomy and gets pregnant. Now he is more valuable dead then alive because she will be guaranteed to inherit through her daughter. She messed up not making sure to shoot him in the front not the back. I’m very curious to watch this one and see what evidence is presented on both sides.

I agree. She should be out on no-cash bond like all the other career criminals. Clearly she's lying because she's a woman! Rabble rabble rabble rabble! She's guilty because I say so and we don't need a trial! Rabble rabble rabble rabble!

Don't marry men who shoot a gun into the ceiling to intimidate you and maybe also don't marry a total stranger after just two weeks without even telling your own child about it. Sounds like another story of two unhinged people who found each other and one ended up killing the other.

Why would anyone marry someone they have known for only 13 days? Why did he wait until after he married Ashley to tell his daughter about her? Why did the Ballet business fail so quickly? What was the life insurance situation? So many questions.

There are several true crime podcasts regarding this case. Doug was left to pay for and manage the sinking ship of a ballet company after Ashley became pregnant, despite the fact that he knew nothing about ballet or managing dancers. He told his daughter that he would never marry again and two weeks later he was married to this woman that he just met. I hope there is justice for Doug and his family.

Great guest !! He explains everything so well. Hope to see him back soon !! This is the first I've watched of this case and it sounds like she might be guilty but will have to hear more. I don't see her getting convicted though. Probably too much reasonable doubt unless more evidence comes out. Her story sounds a bit suspect but I don't think I could convict her based on what I just heard.

Was she in the habit of carrying a gun? Was it her gun or the gun he used to shoot the poor ceiling? She was heading out the door when he grabbed her; she had to have been carrying the gun as she wouldn't have had the time to do anything else. Just some of my thoughts for what they're worth.

The defense's narrative does smell off in a lot of ways. The story she paints about what happened that day, however unlikely, is possible though so the defense is going to have their work cut out for them in trying to make it believable. The claims that have no solid proof are going to be hard to digest coming from her alone, but that proven fact he shot into the roof during an argument is going to speak volumes. I could see a jury potentially siding with her (for some good reasons), but in my view so far I'm very suspicious of her story.
