Because surly the police delaying releasing information - contributed to the hoax theory. To me the guy 'Dr professor' that wrote a book would have caused more harm, and Alex jones giving a platform, was redistribution of it. So they seem to go after the bigger fish. But if Alex can show the conspiracy theory had credibility at the time, and once AJ realised the proof did eventually come out, he publically apologised. You don't watch many sentencings or trials, do you? No shade, just commenting on what I found cute. Yes, judges can and do receive letters and emails about cases they are residing over. One that comes to mind is the female police officer that shot a man dead in his car instead of tasering him. The judge, at her sentencing, comments on how many letters she'd received in support of the police officer. Stories of how she'd specifically aided them, etc. This is commonplace. I'm happy you've picked up this new hobby though! Watching trials can be very educational.
