What kinda judge awards custody to a parent thats been absent for 6 years without even informing the other parent. Still doesn't deserve to be murdered but that judge is ignorant for sure. All the negative comments about Ashley blows my mind. How is Chad and Erica better parents when they turned to murder because they “snapped”? That doesn’t justify murder. I mean didn’t you see the cruelty? There’s no way the judge would have given Ashley custody if there wasn’t any solid proof. Erica turned out to be abusive. You are hearing the story only from the dad's mother, and his lawyer. I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle. When men go off to the service for a couple of years no one bats an eye. If she didn't care for her kid, why would she want the child back? Chad may have had something in his past, like an arrest maybe? It would be highly unusual for her to get custody if this was a stable loving household, with a biomom, who was some awful person, who get the child. The mom and Chad's attorney are the only ones saying terrible things about Ashley.

Why is everyone blaming the judge who gave her custody? This man beat her mother to death. Who tf thinks this is the type of person who should be raising a child? Add to it he left her with someone who was abusing her. He had the power to stop it, but didn't. This man should have never had custody of this child. She would have been better off with her mother. Now she has no parents and life long trauma. We don't know what information was given to make that decision. But it was the right choice.

Courts dont just do things and not let both parties know whats happening and their chance to repsond to the petition but if you dont want to share custody & cant show cause then thats a problem. Plus, if she had really abandoned her daughter why didnt they petition to sever her rights so Erica could adopt her? Id bet my house and car she was able to prove they were keeping her from being able to contact her daughter while she was away in the military. And it takes money to get an attorney for family court. But unfortunately we'll never know cause they took her life so she cant tell her story and family court does not fall under foia/sunshine law. And his mom is not a neutral witness nor does she have first hand knowledge of the events she is telling her son's version.

That cheating wife surely uses drunkenness as excuse to cover for cheating and murder confessions. The mother in law said that erika said she didn't know who the dad was of her baby because she was "DRUNK and picked up guys" then the truth came out. On trial her attorney questioned her mother in law regarding the shots as if erika blamed her confession on her getting drunk by her mother in law to get her to say something she didn't want to. I imagine it something like 'i didn't want to say that but she got me drunk and made me say that' just like she says in the recording "i did what he told me to do, to make the call and order pizza. It will be SO nice if these ignorant criminals will think twice BEFORE procreating. Chad claims to LOVE his childrens BUT that is NOT love is nothing but control. Chad turned out to be a POS, there is no doubt about that. But that being said, what kind of a POS judge sees a person abandon her kid for 6 years and the father not run away from his responsibilities and raise his daughter well, but decides to give the child to the mother when she decides she wants to be the mother all of a sudden?
@miche6563

This documentary seems to want to stick to one narrative and focus on other tjings, but at about 5:28 if u pause read the paperwork. He lost custody because he wasnt following the court order that favoured him, and wouldnt allow the mother to see or speak to her child. So the judge took custody from the parent who was breaking the court order and comiting parental alienation. Chads actions are at fault for the judges choices, not the judge being a pos. Chad didnt turn out to be a pos, he always was a pos

Even though my kids dad left I didn't speak cruelly of him and I showed pictures of him saying, there's your dad, he loved you a lot, but he can't be around right now and maybe when you get older you will understand! So my daughter grew up with a wonderful personality, not thinking that her dad didn't love her because I told her he did. He eas with her for her first 3 yrs. So she had pictures of him. But she never really asked questions about him because I told her what she needed to know. This lady didn't like her granddaughters mom so sshe didn't even keep her in her life through pictures.
