If you have brothers you already knew that. The older brothers knew their roles. Oldest calls the shots, second oldest is the most loyal and the muscle, and third was figuring out his place in the crew. Just like all brothers have to do.

In the book, it was Granville, Jacks father and they had inserted a cable saw in the Heffer and cut the calves legs off in the womb in an attempt to save the cow, but she ended up dying from the blood loss.

People always say the books is better, and it is. The shooting scene isn't even that big in the book. The way they kill that uppity sheriff is good too, absolutely nothing like that. The Bonderant boys sure we're immortal. In the book Forest got a whole lot of lumber fall on him when some guy cut the rope and it all fell on him. He was in a cast for like 3 months, but he survived and he actually did due of pneumonia

If you get the chance read the book this movie was based on! It provides so much more insight and fascination and imagination to these characters! Literally one of the best books I've ever read! Especially on crime! The only book to rival it is probably Kevin Weeks' "Brutal" or Joe Pistone's "Donnie Brasco"...

I can see why this scene was taken out. The bar scene where Forrest tells Jack that the only reason or the only way theyre alive is because they control the leverage of fear in their territory. Its a solid scene & it really renders this scene as pointless & rather dull. Time filler.
