If we are able to negotiate a record-setting settlement for my client in a medical malpractice case, why is it that the defense will do everything possible to prevent us from disclosing that settlement to the general public?
It's because they have competing interests.
It's because they don't want other attorneys to know how much they paid for a particular set of injuries. If they do catch wind of this specific settlement for these specific injuries, the next time they have an injured client with injuries that are more substantial, they will use our settlement as the guideline for what certain injuries are worth. Then, they will argue that their client's injuries are worth so much more because their client's injuries are so much worse than my client's injuries.
There are other reasons why they don't want us publicizing the settlement.
