I am trying to obtain a friend's 10545. These are neat machines. I have two Toro 2-Strokers with Suzuki engines.

I've had my gold series mower since 1994 (26years). I mow my grass once a week for about six months out of year and this thing is still going strong. In my opinion this is the best walk behind mower ever made. Like I said I've had it for 26 years and at age 67 I'm expecting this mower to last the rest my life. $375 for a life time mower is a pretty good deal.

I have that exact mower. Had it since the early '90s. Have not used it in 7yrs. I should pull it out of the shed and restore it. Great mower, love the 2 strokes!!!

I serviced lawnboys at a repair shop back in the early 90s and they are hands down one of the best push mowers ever produced! I think I had to totally rebuild one just because someone's kids dumped straight gas in it by accident!

That's funny. I did the same thing to my grandpa's lawnboy when I was a kid.

Best mower ever made. Never bought another mower that last as long as a Lawn boy.

I have a late 90's push Lawn Boy mower. Parents bought it brand new before I even was around. It is not a 2 stroke but I think these are solid as ours continues to be used every year for all the weekly mowing needs. The biggest jobs done by me included one spark plug replacement (I donated the old plug to my 2stroke scooter), oil jobs, and blade sharpening. Oh...and the oil compartment broke apart once and there was oil everywhere. Otherwise though continues to start and mow for hours every time. I think I will still be using this thing in the next 20 years at this rate.

That's a keeper for sure! I have 2 Lawn Boys (model 10518 and 10520) that are near identical to yours, and in my humble opinion I think these are the best push mowers ever built.

I luv the snappers , but the older lawn boys were some of the best ever.. I had one of these gold series from 96 and it was overall the best mower I ever had. The transmissions are excellent and the engines are strong and extremely reliable.

A couple of things more to do with one that used and not really maintained. One, sharpen the blade and balance it using a thin screwdriver to check it. Two, while the blade is off, take off the muffler and clean the exhaust ports--I use a wooden dowel so as not to damage the piston. Great video, thank you.

Also, I have had 2 of these Gold Series mowers and one of the earlier model. The earlier one was used by my son for 4 years mowing as high as 20 yards to save for a car; after that I used it for 3 years, then, gave it to my kids to mow their yard at college and bought the first Gold Series machine. My dad had a Lawn Boy in the 1950s! I restored an old one given to me free that still had points and condenser-sold it for $150 in 1978.

The main things that kill Lawnboy mowers (other than not running a quality 2 cycle oil for air cooled engines) are keeping the blades balanced. Cheap 2 cycle oil used to clog the mufflers on the old ones and people would think the engine was bad. An unbalanced blade will knock the crank seals out and on a 2 cycle they can't pull fuel if those seals are bad. But still much better push mower than any other push mower made in my opinion. I have five of them and three run. Oh, and they were made by OMC. Same people who made Johnson/Evinrude outboard motors. There's my nickels worth.

In all honestness man I’ve been using outboard 2 stroke oil for the mower. Outboard oil is designed for 2 stroke boats because they run high rpm for a very long time so I looked at my lawn boy and thought to myself it’s no different than a boat cutting the grass so I used outboard 2 stroke oil 32:1 and never had issues
@brandonupchurch76282 жыл бұрын
Just make sure the oil you're using is appropriately rated for both air cooled and water cooled engines, marine engines will run much cooler than an air cooled lawnmower engine.
@johndunawayiii46632 жыл бұрын
Also 2-cycle oil now burns much cleaner than it did even just ten years ago. I work on boats for a living and out of all the two cycle oils that I've used (I'm sure there's other brands that are just as good) the best one that I've found is a toss up between Lucas and Kloitz. I run them in all my two strokes. From my weed trimmers up to my RM500. Never had any problems.

I just got a Lawn Boy 10523 at a yard sale and got it running after a carb cleaning and new blade. I will be cleaning it up and painting a few places. They don't make them like this anymore.

I kno this vid is old but I just found it googal searching. As I found one on tge curb free and kno nothing about them I shot carb cleaner in carb pulled it fired up and died. As it had no gas. Then I started looking realized it's a 2 stroke. The primer bulb is busted and no gas in it. Pull rope struggles to go back on its own bpaint pealing off but tires look great on it I'm going to tinker around with it see if I can find the primer bulb part. And use 2 stroke oil. Mines a gold series 5 hp

Although, this was 4 years ago, I wanted to correct your statement in case anybody was curious. LB made a "Gold Pro" 2-cycle 6.5hp mower around '98 (model 10525, I think).
@notajp2 ай бұрын
@@seemoreb.6368you are correct. There was a Gold Pro as well as the Silver Pro. The regular Gold used the F model engine and I believe all the Pro models were the Duraforce.
