Will IT Run??? 1980's Lawnboy 2 Stroke Commercial Gold Series Lawn Mower

Went yardsaleing and picked up some mowers and this was one of them. Not sure what year the machine is got all the attachment's for it so lets see if it will run.

That’s an early 90s model. The late 80s have that visible spinning plastic disc ontop of the housing cover where the 90s models started putting the pull starter recoil on top of the housing rather than underneath

The model number is under the control panel it's more like a 1995-1997. 1997 is the last year of that model

Beautiful mower! Sounds like it’s running perfect. It’s not from the 80’s tho, late 90’s early 2000’s gold series have aluminum deck, silver is metal deck. Great video! And yes, i always run 32:1, smoke a bit but that’s what they were built to run on

I kinda mess with it normally 3rd and 2nd first depending how thick grass is or how slow I want to go

Does your gas cap leak fuel through the vent hole when you tip it over? I just got one of these and I'm wondering if that's normal or if the gas cap needs replaced. 🤔

50:1? Better you go with 32:1 thats what lawn boy recommends!

There's no carburetor adjustment 😂 you're SUPPOSED to run then FULL throttle 3200rpm not low speed at all!

Actually, you can adjust the high speed on those Walbro carbs. There is a black thumb wheel underneath the air vane on the throttle shaft that changes the spring tension on the throttle shaft. Loosing the spring tension let’s the engine rev higher. Tightening it slows the max RPMs. They also have what Lawnboy called an “altitude adjustment” screw, which is basically an idle mixture screw.

i always get the VP racing small engine 50:1 in the can and i had no problem with my two stroke engine. the bottle and mixing dosent seem to do well

i just mix the bottle with the gas. The already mixed fuel in my opinion just costs too much and you never know if they put enough oil in it

​@The Maniac Mower use 32:1 NOT 50:1 lawn boys need the extra oil for the bearings and what's $1.00 more per mix?

Don’t run 50:1 In those. The lightest you should go in a 2 cycle is 40:1. Anybody who tells you it’s okay to run 50 is brainwashed. The only reason 50:1 is on all 2 cycles now is to pass pollution regulations. Manufacturers know that they can slap 50:1 on the cap and fool the department and know any 2 stroker knows to pour 32:1 in them
