Very well stated/thought out! Keep It Simple Stupid. Giving the lawn the appropriate amount of N means less wasted money that is either in your pocket or you can use to get the higher quality ingredients or products for the lawn. good stuff

Man, good timing with this question. I've been contemplating doing a quick blurb about my experience with this mower. Literally, I'm divided. Great concept. The Honda motor is excellent. But I'm not entirely satisfied with it. Lots of plastic and the height adjustment mechanism could use some improvement for a more stable horizontal cut.

Alex, thanks for the feedback. Spraying has its advantages, but sometimes I prefer to go out with my granular spreader. The math is the same for granular fertilizers. Either works fine.

That seems like overly complicated math. Just divide the percentage of nitrogen into 100. In this case 20, 100/20=5. You would need 5 lbs. of that product over 1000 sq. ft to get 1 lb. of nitrogen. Now, just multiply 5 by your target. 5 x .2 = 1lb. per 1000 sq. ft. This is the easiest way I have found to calculate nitrogen rates.

Don't you need to "weigh" your ounces of dry before dissolving it in water? I believe those containers you are using measure "fluid" ounces. They're for liquid measurements if I'm not mistaken.

Excellent information. I am deficient in N but have low pH and high P and K. I can add lime in the Fall/Winter to adjust pH. Is there a source of high N-0-0 that raises pH?

Dwain, thanks so much for checking in. Two things: First, I don't have any experience raising pH, but yes, lime is the most popular thing to use for that. I'm sure there is an N fertilizer out there that is paired with something that raises pH, but I just don't now it. Secondly, don't worry about being "deficient" in N. N levels are always in flux and most all of us get a low N result on soil tests.

@@Jay-Go That IS a great question. Like you, I don't need to raise my pH but, it does look like both calcium nitrate & potassium nitrate will lower pH although the %N is fairly low (13%-15.5%). Love the content! Hope you are well.
