Nice! Like I have said in the past, I did not like the lawn striper for my St. Augustine grass and felt it did not make a difference. It is ALL about the SUN ANGLE for St. Augustine striping in my opinion. Great idea with the SUN Calc. I am going to incorporate that into my summer striping regimen.

ok allen....ITS ON! I run a small lawn care company part time and my own yard needs some series work! I bought the aerator last year, and now I have a slicer seeder!! So in prep, my Bermuda is starting to come out of dormancy...weeds are growing so I started the season with a Trimec application yesterday. I did not do a pre-em application because I plan to aerate, and overseed when may gets here. Going to try and DOMINATE my neighbors this year with a Bermuda lawn. hard to do without an inground sprinkler system, but at least through the 4th of July I should be able to get it golf course green! Oh...I have a reel mower too (I don't use it for the business, its just for my yard). GAME ON

I have used this striping ''TORO'''' device where I get good results by leaving the lawn cut on a higher setting. This makes the strips stand out and more attractive no matter where the sun is. Don't forget to use a fine grade of sand in the stripping tube. You don't have to fill it way up, as that makes it to heavy when you try to turn it around. Experiment with it !!

The initial spots will disappear over some time. Prevention lies in filtered or bottled water for your pets. Nitrates in urine is what creates yellow spots in grass. Filtered water has substantially less nitrates. So much less that, dare i say, when your pet urinates in your lawn without nitrates, they're actually watering your lawn. I speak from experience. Have 4 dogs and DO NOT tolerate spots on my beloved lawn.

Yipes, STRIPES! Looks great, Allyn! When you drink too much wine though, the stripes get squirrelier (not that you drink wine before you mow, I'm sure you don't). LOL That Suncalc is pretty cool. I didn't know the sun went in such an arch across the sky. I thought it was more of a straight line. I would use the app more for determining were to plant perennials and annuals though. I can't stripe my Bermuda.

Hi! I'm a first time home owner and watching your videos have really helped me get my yard semi decent. Hey Allyn, I'm proud to state I have a lawn care nut lawn, and it's come a LONG way... However, this year, it would appear everywhere my dog has used the restroom over the winter month's, I have dead grass spots. What are your suggestions here apart from reseeding those sports? Prevention? Spring is upon me, and neighbors are already commenting stating she (the lawn) doesn't look as good as she did last year...

Allyn need your advice, I'm in northwest Indiana about a mile from the lake , my property was beach\sugar sand when I bought it, brought in dirt do I could grow grass was going well but in the past 2 yrs moss is taking over bad , I have all oak trees on property, put moss killer granular last year but no affect what do I do?
@DRWebster937 жыл бұрын
You might want to get a soil test done. Moss prefers acidic soil. If your soil is acidic, you could bring up the PH by applying lime. When oak leaves decompose in the lawn, they will turn the soil acidic.

Can you make a video about fungus or murshrooms in a yard. I just starting fertilizing and watering my grass and now I'm starting to see mushrooms in my yard. Like this comment so he can see it!!
@Troy-Echo3 жыл бұрын
Mushrooms in a lawn isn't always a bad thing. If you are taking care of your soil and do not see mushrooms, then you get a spell with a lot of rain or much more water than usual and you start to see mushrooms, then once it dries out the mushrooms go away, that's just confirmation that you have rich and fertile soil. If you have mushrooms in a drier time of year, then you may have issues.

It doesn't have to be exactly a 5-5-5. Get a bag with a ratio that is close to even. Like a 12-12-12 or 12-8-10. I think I saw a bag of 10-10-10 at HD, you'd just put down half as much as you would with a 5-5-5.

Lighting is very important. My neighbor leaves in the morning to work in the dark. He comes home around 3pm. He always says that my law looks better than his and wants to know my secret. On the weekends he usually sleeps in. Once in a while he gets up early, looks at his lawn and says(looking better than mine), we must have gotten some rain last night. Here is the perfect way to see it. Pull up to the curb at your house and look at your lawn. Now look at your side mirror. Take a photo with a camera and get a side by side
