I have been very impressed with your videos. One thing I would recommend is to always throttle down the engine before you turn the key to off. When the rpms are high, and you turn the key to off, the spark dies, but the inertia of the engine continues to draw fuel into the combustion chamber, and washes the oil off the cylinder walls. This leads to excessive wear of the rings and cylinder walls.

It's not a matter of honesty. It;s often policy for places to replace parts. Think about it ... what if that old clutch goes out in the next week and the customer brings it back knowing it was worked on. Plus they can't warranty it because there is no new part put in to actually warranty.

I know this video is 3 years old but I have a problem with mine. Hope you'll respond 🙋🏿‍♂️ My clutch's continuity is 3.6 I'm getting 12.7 volts from the battery. It clicks ( I see it moving up and down once I pull the button ) but doesn't engage the blades. What gives?

Our yardman we had had starting issue similar to that. You would have to rotate it past the compression stroke so i could get speed and get over it otherwise it would stop on it. We did that since we first got it and it gave us 10 years of service. Till it bent a push rod. We got a new mower and realise it was probably a valve issue.

I wish I lived nearby. Well, this past Friday I was mowing with my 2017 Gravely ZT HD60. It was mowing just fine, Bet you have heard that before! Then, I noticed it stopped mowing, but the engine was still running. So, I headed for the barn thinking a belt broke of slipped off the pulley. The belts are good and in position and now the the engine will not start.

I'm not blowing fuses and yet I still pull the fuse out to make sure every time I try to get this tractor working after replacing switch's, selenoid, etc.....I can only start the tractor with a screwdriver placed on selenoid points. PTO/blades will not turn on.....I'll look under clutch or around it for a problem that might be visable after watching this.....two times the blades shut down while mowing and when I got them working again they did not stay powered on for long.....

I agree, many shops will replace the clutch, not because its bad, but because its less time consuming than just a simple wire repair. On top of that they'll over-charge you for the part too in many cases. I know an automotive repair shop here in town that does that they take the cost of the part and pretty much double it then charge that price to the unsuspecting customer.

My John Deer L120 won’t move when I press the clutch but this doesn’t look like the same problem or is it? I am a woman with no mechanical skills and need to try to fix it myself. I have it jacked up so far. It’s not a situation where the thing in the tire came out as I haven’t changed any tires. The belt looks intact.

As usual, to the point and easy to understand. Thank you for the great help over the years. I picked up a John Deere LX277 the previous owner gave up on. He gad clutch, switch and the part the reverse switch controls that stops blades if reverse is activated without lifting the pto switch. In tall (3") grass the blades quit turning till the pto switch is recycled. I rebuilt the deck and all spindles and idlers have good bearings and new belts. It still does it. Do you have any suggestions?

Curious, weren't you taking a risk stripping the wire so close to clutch why not clean the insulation away braise the wire then rapid or cut the wire farther down and heat shrink the part near the clutch. Most mower shops should be able to get you this part, most times not much more than the online also think about the convenience factor of not having something shipped, support the local shops don't Always buy online, when you can.

C'est beau Dony...Extrement bien fait, comme d'habitude...Just bought a Husqy tractor late last summer and always had a whining sound coming from the underside when operating it which would stop as soon as I applied the brake...Dealer could not figure it out after he had replaced the belt sub warranty, so because it was so late in the season, I left it with him over the winter in his storage and he has just written me today telling me I was right re the whining and it is a electric PTO problem which he will now replace along with the pulley above it because of the bearing in it...Your vid shows me exactly what he'll be doing...Problem now is that parts from Husqy are on backorder...C-O-V-I-D...Stay safe & stay healthy....Ciao...

I'm impressed with your electrical repair. Very few techs take the time to do it correctly. Regarding shrink tubing, we have switched to the type that contains a sealant. As you heat the tubing, the sealant melts, adheres to the wire and provides a waterproof connection. Some electric clutch manufacturers such as Extreme, require you to torque the spindle bolt to ensure you "set" the clutch, do not damage the bearings, and maintain the warranty.

Great video again as always, I just ran into this problem about a month ago. Also had to replace the blown fuse and switch. The wire on the clutch had moved to a position that it was occasionally rubbing on the pulley causing a short thus blowing the fuse. I did also solder and covered the repaired area but I also added wire extensions on both wires rerouted the wires out the opposite side of the tractor and secured with wraps. All good now.

Great video. I've noticed that this engine needs a valve-adjustment (tight start) It was easy to notice this because mines needs adjusting too. It was a given-to-me engine, an B&S Intek 15HP 310000 series. It's valves were completely closed. I could not find any real specification online for this one, so I went with 0.005 on bolt valves in order to start it but runs tight a bit still. I know the ratio should be somewhere around 0.005 and 0.008 (+/- for both) but I'm still unsure as to witch is witch (is the intake less than the exhaust and by how much) It's my very first valve-adjust but I got the engine to start although still a bit tight to start and run (and it is shaking hard at low throttle) edit: I just now found the engine's manual online while last week it was nowhere to be found ;) I got the clearance spec now (0.003-0.005 intake/0.005-0.007 exhaust)
