most of the people watching this performance has NO idea what the history and story is behind that song. It's a song of trial and tribulations and struggles with being black and southern. it has deep roots in black southern history. love it and love him.

It has deep roots in black southern history? "Ol' Man River" is a show tune from the 1927 musical Show Boat with music by Jerome Kern and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, who wrote the song in 1925.

This is the kind of voice you’re just never prepared for. It just blows you away and you need to hear it again, immendiatelly, to make sure that the experience was actually real. His voice just powers off that stage and takes your whole body for a wild ride. Just a world class voice that come around so rarely. Just stunning! Absolutely amazing power, intonation and control! That's a monster of a voice there!

He should have won the whole thing.. definitely a better voice than the chicken chaser that won. I don’t know how that happened, but these shows rarely select the best talent. It’s all about backstories and things the producer wants to push. I think Lawrence was eliminated after just his third performance.

Yes he does. I can’t believe people watching some Lady GaGa video for the ten billionth time, not adventurous enough to get out of their bubble see what’s a actually available . I do think they’d find it worth it, especially when everyone was one their feet, but there are many people who just think, Hmn. Nothing new here. They’ll all grow up eventually and realized all they have misses while watching that same Justin Bebier video for the one millionth time. What a waste of a life that can be

Lawrence is in a class all by himself, a completely different league then the other contestants. Most all of the other contestants have talent, but it’s very raw and kind of s diamond in the rough. Mr. Beamon on the other hand, has a totally polished voice, ready to step into any studio on the world and work with any of the greatest producers. He needs no further preparation, that voice is like gold and silver and much of the time platinum, which is where his records would find themselves, platinum! Voices like his do not come around too often, which is why I wished they had promote him more. Why not he is a superstar in the making, like Barry White or Lou Rawls, he has that level of vocals starting now and he is still young and could become a much better singer with more training, but his voice is ready for recording right now
