"I'm hooked and I'm upgrading everything- new suspension, new axles, new steering, more power, better transmission" Mrs. Tolman is like, "Here we go", while watching this. Haha great work, it looks like a blast.

Done with Style!!! It was cool watching you get faster!!! HorsePower is easy; Brakes, Suspension, and TIRE!!! Start with that, but don’t forget the most important upgrade... The Driver Mod!!! Seat time is key. Get the Ugly truck setup and don’t mess with it, just drive and have Fun!!! We can’t wait to see how you do at the next event!!!

For brakes, i dont know if the Silverado git the same ones as the Tahoe, but the factory upgrade is 07 and newer Tahoe calipers and rotors and swap to the factory hydraboost and stainless braided front lines. Works wonders for a 7000lb Suv should help the truck. Also you should be able to get all the rear disc hardware from a tahoe if the Silverado is drum. But get the 01 to 06 rear stuff as it is larger than the 07 and up. Edit, they do require a minimum of 17 inch rim as they are too big for a 16
@snappyaj90533 жыл бұрын
I think his is the same as mine, a 2000 so the rear is disc but the Tahoe has bigger discs and better calipers. Some folks even go to the police SUV rears as it’s a thicker disc - I just did the 05 front and SUV rear. Hydroboost is next.
@AndyR19823 жыл бұрын
Right, i try to do the best factory upgrades possible. That way if you need a replacement part, you can hit a part store and not have to wait for summit or jegs. Hell the 8.5 10 bolt in my nova has the disk setup from a 4th gen fbody. Bolts right together with some mods for the parking brake

With an automatic, body roll, and no hydro/e -brake drifting is hard to make look pretty. But as far as it being slow, Most of my initiations are between 60-100 mph depending on the track. Lots of the technical tracks the drifting is between 35 and 60 in the middle of the run. My 8.1 2500 is my tow pig for my drift rig.

That blue 96ish F150 is an absolute amazing piece of work.
@gocart093 жыл бұрын
If you don't want to It's been big money on brakes You can swap to the four piston caliper that's on the newer silverados The disc is the same but you get more bite with the newer style caliper You got to put a washer or something in it to space it but apparently that's a pretty awesome mod that I plan on doing myself I haven't done it yet so you might have to do a little bit of digging
@LawrenceTolman3 жыл бұрын
I've seen a few guys do the conversion, and it sounds like it would be a worthwhile upgrade!
@Silkmaster42003 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't go too high gearing on the axle. 3.73's be good enough. Main thing good set of wide tires.
@johnpurdum81263 жыл бұрын
Curious about the gas situation. Did they have fuel at the track, or was there a place to stop and get some fuel? I was thinking that the trucks in the competition would have very little fuel in them for weight savings.
@LawrenceTolman3 жыл бұрын
There was a gas station about 1/4 mile from the track so no problem fueling up
@snappyaj90533 жыл бұрын
Looks like so much fun! That big block just sounds amazing. I was curious why you ran with the rear and passenger seats still in. Pounds matter! Thinking about a 6L90E or spacing 1st and 2nd wider in the 4L80E?
@LawrenceTolman3 жыл бұрын
yeah pounds do matter, but the effort/results ratio likely wouldn't make a huge difference with the final results of the event from just taking out the interior...
