Twice I've called police to my residence to report an incident as a "good citizen". Once I found a wallet in my yard with ID but no cards or cash, and they tried to accuse me of stealing it! And the second time I witnessed a serious car crash in front of my house. Instead of asking what I saw, they kept probing to see if I was somehow involved, like road rage or something. The police are not your friends!

Back in the '80s my wallet was stolen. Fortunately, for me, the thief was just interested in the cash and he took it and dumped my wallet in the mail box. A couple of day's later I got a note from the post office that they had an item addressed to me with incorrect postage and to come and get it. I went to the post office and paid the postage and got my wallet back. I suggest, that on finding a wallet and you feel like a good citizen, just put it in at blue postal box and walk away.

The way to fix it isn't politically popular and would cost the state money, so it doesn't. In principle, 3 things would reverse most of the damage after a while: 1. Kick DAs out for malfeasance (including criminal when warranted) until they charge officers who commit crimes. 2. Altering who reviews misconduct in departments to someone other than the department itself. 3. End civil forfeiture/police for profit motives. They then paid for their job and not for things other than their job. What makes the current system nefarious is that anybody who would normally put a stop to what amounts to a uniformed mafia in many places is taking cuts of the gains instead. Stealing from the innocent is big business.
@Accrovideogames10 ай бұрын
@@TheMelnTeam You forgot three. 4. Get rid of qualified immunity. If a cop commits a crime, no matter how petty it is, like trespassing, they should be arrested and charged with a crime. 5. Make it illegal to lie to citizens about their rights, e.g. "if you don't comply with my unlawful orders, I can arrest you". They can still lie about other things. 6. Ban guns for both citizens and patrolling cops. This eliminates the constant fear cops have about citizens potentially having a gun (US only), as well as making citizens feel safer with cops. I had a situation that could have gotten really ugly really fast. I think I came up with a good way to solve it. I was going to check my mail when I saw police outside my front door conducting an arrest with a resisting suspect. I decided to wait until they were gone before going out. When I did go out I saw a gun laying in the street, so I took it back inside and put it on my kitchen table, then called the police dispatcher on the non-emergency number. The last thing I wanted was the word "gun" going out over the police radio, so I told the dispatcher that I had found a flashlight. She said she would send someone over to pick it up. I found out later that while I was making this call, the cop who had dropped his gun realized it was missing and was turning back to my street to find it, hoping it had not been found and that he could get it back. Of course by that time the gun had been found. Then he gets a call about a lost police flashlight at the location he had lost his gun. He had no idea what the dispatcher was talking about, but as the location of this lost flashlight was the same place he last his gun he said he'd get the flashlight. A bit after calling the very polite and friendly dispatcher a cop knocked on my door. He asked about the flashlight. I opened the door so the cop could see my table and said, "That is not a flashlight." Now, I didn't want to tell the cop the truth why I said it was a flashlight, that is, because I don't trust the police, I'm afraid if you guys hear "gun" over the radio I'll have 60 cops shooting into my apartment. Instead I I said, "Nonsense. If a cop were to lose his weapon, that would be a big deal. If he lost a flashlight, not such a big deal." The cop looked at me a second as if not believing his ears, finally he just said, "Thank you." I then invited the cop in to collect his lost "flashlight". He thanked me again, and now had a friend in the local police department. At the time I had no car and walked everywhere. Several times this cop stopped to offer me a ride and we would talk. I did eventually tell him the real reason I told the dispatcher it was a flashlight, and he admitted it had been an extremely good idea. Turns out he was as concerned about the issues with the police as I was. I think most of the cops are good people who want to do their job within the law, but frankly, if you allow your fellow officers to violate civil rights, you are as bad as they are.

I had to talk to the cops at my door once a few decades ago. I talked to them and they eventually saw that my neighbor had misunderstood something they saw. They said thanks, suggested I go talk to the neighbors, and left. Had I not talked to them, they could have gotten a warrant based on what the neighbor had said. That would have sucked so explaining the misunderstanding worked out way better. I think I was very lucky to talk to Officer Chill and now days, I would ask them to leave while saying nothing else.

Sat down with fresh cup of coffee and propped my feet up on the desk and turned on youtube. Next thing i know is and officer busting thru my door like the koolaid man. I took a sip of coffee and said 'i hope you have a warrant' and wrote down the time he entered. Making sure the surveillence system is recording as he didnt have a warrant. I light a cigarette and said 'i plead the fifth and want my lawyer'. The cop yells this is a threatening gesture and grabs me and puts me thru bedroom door. I remember just trying to keep the cigarette away from him so he didnt get burned. I end up on the bed and cop backs up into hallway. I took a long drag of my cig and as i exhale i see the red laser dot aimed center mass. He has his taser on me and says im coming with him. I keep repeating that he doesnt look like my lawyer and im not required to answer anything. Was either the fire dept or EMT that entered and i start yelling to please get between me and the officer, im worried about my safety. Labral tear in left shoulder and i ended up in hospital. Still need surgery to this day. Severe ptsd from military and at any moment an armed individual can enter your home and remove you... And theres nothing you can do. I wasnt going to show any type of aggression because i would have ended up in a box or cell. I returned home and door is totaled along with any shred of respect for these men serving as officers. My wife had juat left to take our three kids to mcdonalds for lunch, im grateful they werent there to witness these events. ANYTIME a person makes the mistake of assisting law enforcement, that person automatically becomes a "person of interest" in whatever crime has been committed. And,, knowing how law enforcement WILL choose a person at random to arrest in order to "solve a crime', YOU have just put yourself on that list. Remember this, ONCE you become a "person of interest", YOU are considered guilty,, and it is up to you to prove your innocence! NEVER speak to the police, as they will take ANYTHING you say, as "suspicion of a crime".

Great video. First I have my property posted No Trespassing, no solicitations at the front my front door. In my state the county trespassing laws reign supreme in my state. But even then it’s kinda a 2 tier law. You don’t have to post it and people are technically trespassing but it’s hardly ever enforced or prosecuted. When No Trespassing becomes absolute is when the property in my county has signage stating so. I’m not familiar with the other county’s in my state. So if a situation like this arises with my city police I have to call my county sheriff if the city police refuse to leave. This is why I have my property posted. If something goes down on my property and I call 911 and tell them a individual is on my property against my wishes and they refuse to leave and I verbally state to the police my property is posted it immediately escalates the severity of the call. I don’t answer the door for no one. My neighbors and myself we always call each other first before going to each others houses because of all this tomfoolery going on. One thing not mentioned in this video if the police do show up and you don’t know why -? Talk through the door closed in a loud voice. I also have a security door in front of my main door so I can poke my head out but I probably won’t do that. Also call 911 dispatch to find out the reason for the police visit. It might be someone impersonating a law enforcement officer. So I’ve up to date on my county No Trespassing laws and I will inform anyone I deem necessary to leave that I’m calling the county sheriff to handle the situation. Now for full disclosure here ; I’ve had the police at my front door years ago on a welfare check and they tried to come in and I immediately asked if they had a search warrant, they said no so I said no you can’t come in. They got really pissed off. No problem I’m a retired union worker, shop steward, contract negotiator, I’m used to it😂😂😂👍🙄🙄.

This has nothing to do with the topic, but it brought this to mind. Back when I drank (in the late 1900's right around the time disco died) I got pulled over and was field sobriety tested. I passed and the officer was going to let me go, even though after being threatened by another officer that showed during the stop that he'd be written up for letting me go, I blew a .38. I'd been stopped a few times and let go over the year or 2 I'd been in that area. Here's why I think I was going to be cut slack again: I'm a man, I was in the service and a great majority of police officers are former military. Old enough to die, old enough to get S-faced drunk. I was within walking distance of the base each time. This was my first traffic stop. I did the sobriety test. As high as my blood alcohol was, I'd was regularly far more wasted and didn't present hammered. I was compliant and respectful. Now for the reason I didn't get let go: The officer that showed up was female. The old boys club rules don't fly with any female officer I've ever known. In fact I think those "rules" kind of piss them off. This female officer was genuinely pissed off at what was about to happen, letting me get back in that car and drive away. As pissed off as I was at the time, and enraged at the nearly $300 dollars that ticket cost me!!! I know, no $5,000 fine, no lawyer fees, no multi year wait to get my license back or blow starting my car. The truth is, that woman probably saved the life of others and possibly my own life. I never drove drunk after that stop. I didn't stop drinking for another 5 years but she got me through to not kill anyone and have that horror follow me the rest of my life.

If you can afford it, fence in your front yard with locked gates. Unless they have a warrant, this will keep them from even knocking on your door because going past your fence is trespassing. Unfenced front yards and porches are legally open to the public until you tell someone to get off your property or have “no trespassing” signs posted (which cops will likely ignore or claim not to have seen), but a fenced yard isn’t open to public.
