She is disrespectful. She's a bully. My question is this: why are so many lies and deleted texts/calls and unanswered calls coming from that camp if Karen hit him with the car?
@tukkek
@tukkek 4 күн бұрын
One thing that I haven't seen anybody comment on is the possibility that the police deleted the calls for her and their benefit after she willingly handed over her phone to them. They are all certainly buddy-buddy enough that police would feel comfortable doing that without consulting her if it would help keep her off the investigation records or if it would help police air-tighten their case (such as hypothetically blaming Karen for John's death). That would explain both the messages being deleted and her testimony that she didn't do it. Just the Alberts and the police being buddy-buddy and looking out for each other, which seems to happen a whole lot, doesn't it? That being said, they being corrupt or in cahoots doesn't necessarily means Karen isn't guilty or that they murdered John. Doesn't help make them seem trustworthy or innocent to the average person though, that's for sure...

@@Alison1973 She's probably the best evidence for conspiracy at this point in the case: controlling, overbearing, manipulative... and just a bit too smart for her own good - but not enough to know any better! A grand conspiracy between police and an influential family, with vague motives and evidence... might go way over a lot of jurors' heads but a woman like this is painfully relatable and immediately familiar to every single one: who hasn't experienced an overbearing woman who is hyper-protective of her clique, coordinates and orchestrates people according to her own needs and believes 100% she's entitled and allowed to do all that as long as she and hers get a little bit ahead even when everyone else gets put down for the sake of it? I will bet everyone has suffered a person like that - be it the high-school bully cheerleader, an aunt in their immediate family, the secretary at work who went out of their way to make friends with all the movers and shakers.... This witness, in trying to out-maneuver the defense, has painted herself into the typical mean girl. In any other case, she'd just be making a fool of herself. In this case, she might be the strongest glue in the average juror's mind that ties together, illustrates and exemplifies the entire defense theory of conspiracy. Imagine doing all that to the very people you're trying to protect just because "she can't help being herself"!

She called him 7 times in 19 minutes and deleted them. So her story of the 7 butt dails means she called and then hung up 14 total times accidentally. The whole point of the 7 "butt dails" was she was frantically calling John's phone to find out it and delete things or figure out exactly what she was going to do with the phone. This is where Alan Jackson is going with that. She called him 7 times after he was already dead because she was trying to find his phone and that's why she deleted those calls to hide the fact you were looking for his phone

Court reporter here who’s sat through so many of these trials. I usually hate snarky attorneys with witnesses. Usually a turn-off. Jackson was terrific. This woman came across as a liar who was scheming behind the scenes. Requesting to see her prior statements to answer questions was actually a great tactic. If she was telling the truth, why does she need to see them? Her answers should be mostly consistent. And the woe-is-me, it was traumatic for her, did not help her. Adding her little narratives rather than answering yes or no made her look evasive with an axe to grind.

I often accidentally dial people on my iPhone before it goes dark after I’ve called someone else. I’ll shove it in my purse with my contacts open and accidentally call, BUT you’ve got to hang up or you leave an extraordinarily long voicemail of the inside of your purse! You can’t just keep accidentally calling someone seven times in a 20 minute time. Your phone will eventually go dark. If there was one call to John with a muffled voices voicemail of 15 minutes, I would buy the story.

She keeps digging her own grave: "I didn't listen to her because I was eating dinner" but at the same time "She was talking nonsense and I was horrified by what she said, she was oversharing". It is not a crime to say that you wanted to hear about something that affected your life, family, and friends. There are other suspicious circumstances, but because she is so hostile and stubborn regarding simple statements it seems like she wants to set a certain narrative which makes it even worse. Today the defense made me believe that Jen had access to certain information and that her intentions were not to find out who killed the person, but rather to create a certain story.

As a 31-year trial attorney, I have never seen anything like this. Why would a judge subject county jurors to a 7 week trial and tie up her docket for other litigants needing justice when a federal investigation is underway currently … these witnesses are clearly hiding something and her use of “small circle” and then going to the responding officer’s house the next day, monitors police interviews, sent texts stupidly … got rid of house, dogs, cell phone, job, texts, voicemails and lead investigator violated her 4th Am rights by searching for nudes and then bragged to buddies IN TEXTS about it? Blood in Beer Pong Cups next to the SUV and then blood’s on the SUV? No tail light pieces at scene until next day? It’s OJ’s “I was framed” defense but with ACTUAL evidence …

Crazy how Jen says she wanted to keep details of events in her “small circle”, especially since her kids read her texts…yet she’s letting her kids overhear the same conversation she’s able to relay details about to her Albert-McCabe group chat as they all eat dinner. There are so many weird little nonsensical details like that in her testimony. Going to responding officers house and waits outside for an hour 🙄

I think this is the icing on the cake for the jurors: All those calls in quick succession to Mr. O'Keefe's phone number . . . HAD to have been immediately after the scuffle (for lack of a better word) and were made because they were FRANTIC to figure out where it was or where it ended up. Maybe they thought it got dropped outside somewhere while they were moving him from the house to the lawn. Mr. Jackson did well to present it in the context of human behavior that everyone recognizes and can relate to, including jurors. I don't think there's anything she could try to sell them on that they would entertain even for a second.

Ok. If I was a juror that truly knew nothing about the case prior to trial, her attitude and the constant references to being harassed by the media etc would definitely raise my suspicions about this family. I’m not sure why the prosecution allowed the witnesses to mention the harassment and put this in the minds of the jury members and why didn’t they coach her to be calm and likeeable on the stand? Seems like she made things worse for the prosecution. She should have kept her composure in my opinion

I used to live in a snowy place, and the more these people describe the yard around 12:30ish the more trouble i have believing John OKeefe could have been on the lawn and not seen by someone. By all accounts he wouldnt have been able to be buried under snow until hours later, and there was a light, just beginning to stick, covering of snow. Snow reflects so much light, even if that part of the yard is darker, no one saw a full frown man crumpled there?

The defense completely succeeded in breaking down these witnesses, their honesty and character.. It is the burden of the state to convince 12 jury members beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty. The defense worked off emotions, just as trooper did when he said "shame on you"- eye for eye. How does a trooper say, yes we were drunk and drove the cruiser and still have thier job? Take away ALL the errors by law enforcement and leave that alone the drinking and driving, let alone in a cruiser... 443,000 people a year in the US are charged with DUI, why is the law above the law?

She’s supposed to be the prosecutions smoking gun as far as witness statements go. She is the one who spearheaded the entire “I hit him claim” and today she got caught in several lies and prosecution did a great job in showing how she possibly was the puppet master for getting everyone on the same story that Karen hit him with those texts, getting Kerri over her house to form a timeline, going over to the Proctors house (super inappropriate btw), deleting calls and texts before turning her phone in, and listening in and reporting back to the group about Kerri’s statements. Then her husband is over there monitoring the crime scene reporting back about their “progress” in looking for more evidence. It’s not looking good. These are not normal actions of people who are not hiding something.

Is there a reason why all these people simply text or stared out a window at the suv of people that they knew. They didn't physically go out to the vehicle to see if there was a problem on why they weren't coming into the house. Living in Wisconsin in a January snow would not prevent me for checking on someone who was invited to my home. What kind of friends are these people?? This makes absolutely no sense to me and I haven't heard any of the lawyers question this.

Because he came in the house. Where he got in a fight with one or more of the drunken Albert's and was beaten and then thrown out on the curb. They likely expected him to wake up in the cold and walk home, and 2 hrs later Jen noticed he was outside and that's when she first googled "how long to die in the cold" because she was scared they had killed him. That's also about the time the snow plow driver says he got the radio call about someone walking down fairview and falling in the snow. They were planning on explaining it as an slip and fall in the snow and accidently run over by a snow plow.... but then Karen called and asked for their help finding John and in her frantic state was easily suggestive into believing she had hit John. Which is why it took days to find red peices of the taillight but they found clear glass in the early dawn hours the day he was found.... they had to wait until they could seize her car and break pieces off to plant.

AGREE- did you also catch that the 911 operator said does anyone want to do CPR & she gave him the impression that they didn’t bc she believed he was dead. The 911 operator said, “Well if no one wants to attempt CPR then there is no need to stay on the line. Fire & rescue is on the way. Call us back if you need anything or change your mind.” When JM NEVER attempted to bring the phone closer to Kerry or Karen to be talked through CPR, that told me she didn’t want them to attempt to revive him & it infuriated me. The defense should have brought that up on the stand when she said she lost a dear friend that she loved very much! She didn’t love him enough to have 911 walk Karen & Kerry through proper CPR, though?!?
